I don't think that trade would happen but Ryan Sutter is on a terrible contract with 6 years left so the only way someone will take it would be if they gave up a good asset. no way any team would give up a first for Suter or else a trade would have already happened

You can get way more for Tatar and Suter isn't a cap dump (especially for a rebuilding team)

I'd give you Kris Russell for Paul Byron. Nothing more, maybe less. To think you believe he's worth a 2nd Round Pick plus is phenomenally insane. Get help.

im not saying suter is worth a 1st, but suter is still a work horse defenseman, and solid

Tank town...

You don't even get a 1st for Tatar
Byron trade is fair value, so Montreal accepts
That Suter trade is intrigueing, but the time Montreal wants to compete, I doubt Suter is still a capable 1st pairing defensemen. I could see Montreal being interested in Minnesota was willing to retain 2.5 Million

To get rid of Suter long contract . I personnally think it would be too much but this could be the base of the discussion , lets say Mtl add 2 + second round picks and a prospect .

His contract is bad but Suter is still a serviceable defenseman and is a great leader so you could keep him for few more years and then trade him without having to give up your first (less term)

exactly. minny is rebuilding. the LAST thing they'd do is PAY a first to move Suter whose still a #1D

I dont think they're in any rush to trade suter. hes playing good hockey. once he starts to suck and minny is out of the rebuild stage then they'll ship him off. if habs want a minny LHD they could go after Brodin

I thought he fail down the cliff a little i was trying to help them out in cap space while reuniting (at least on the team) with Weber in an old style defense .
Sure we need LHD help atm , Brodin problem he's incapable of any offense .
You're right there in no rush .. i want an unprotected first so bad ...Could we take Parisé as well (lol) to make it enticing ? We would need to buy one out or to shed a lot of salary ..

I mean that first round pick could very well be top 5. But you are taking a lot of salary back. I still think wild say no. If there’s a lockout, there may be some comp buyouts like 2013.

Don't count on new comp buyouts .. but i wouldn't do it either .. Tough call . Money is an object of value to count with still . Still an interesting question .Bergevin will probably acquire a young LHD with potential to play 1st line minutes .
Im just seeing good partner , one who want to rebuild and that doesn't need to pay superstar and another one desperate to go All in with character guy whatever the price is ! Question of philosophy .
