Did I miss a memo about Ghost?

Edit: yes I did. Did not realise he was regressing so badly. He might need a change of scenery but he wont come that cheap.

Not really the best fit defensively either.

God no. Ceci has been okay this year but I don't see a need for him with Niskanen-Braun-Myers here. Could probably get something more ideal for Ghost in a different deal.

**** defence. If the other team never has the puck they can't score.
Muzzin, Dermott, Holl, Sandin, and Liljegren (the latter 2 next year ofc) look competent enough on D that you could either use speciality pairings or spread it out to have a safety player.

I respect your opinion very much and infact you are one of the most intelligent posters here but to think a team in the NHL is not going to have puck possession at all in the Leafs end...eh that's short sighted.

Leafs may handle puck possession against bad teams but...against mediocre and good teams they won't always have the puck.
This is why playing well the D zone is very important.

You understand what hyperbole is right?
ofc defence is important, just that you shouldn't turn down what might be a good offensive dman for a team that is entirely offence based just because he isn't the greatest in his own zone.

Yes I understand that. Just remember (especially in the playoffs) good teams are able to keep possession in the offensive zone and good offense or not, got to play manageable defense.

Doesn't need to be pretty.

Yup and that was my point.
Mits, Holl, and Muzz are good enough defensively that having Mo and potentially Ghost isn't a big deal. We have an arguably top 5 goalie in the league and a top 5 offence easily, the only thing we need from the defence is to not be a total liability and be able to break the puck out/ get the puck to the forwards.

I think you’re confusing him with someone else.

Man, it that bad for the Leafs. Ceci has been OK for this season. Betcha Ceci has been better that the Ghost this year and Ceci plays the needed right side. Leafs certainly don't want the Ghost and his 4.5m cap hit and sometimes indifferent play till 2024.

I really think the thought that TO is one dimensional is not very accurate. Babs system wasn't very good with the team but it doesn't mean they can't he good defensively. Keefe's message of defending down the middle of the ice is going to turn a lot of heads.

I said it in another ACGM and happy to say it again, if the Leafs are not getting a decent return for Ceci then I'd be happy keeping him for the rest of the season based on his play so far.

Keeping him isn't the worse idea ever.

Ghost doesn’t need a change of scenery at all. He needs his hip to cooperate and to stop thinking so much on and off the ice. Hopefully coach Vingaults vote of confidence in spite of the 2 games scratched can ease his mind a bit.

He’s been scratched 3 straight now

Regardless. Coach gave him a strong vote of confidence in the press. The scratches are a reset if you will and he expects Ghost back in the lineup very soon.

Ghost for Ceci wouldn’t be considered anyway. Too big a risk Ghost regains form as well as the value of his contract.
