Sheldon Keefe just achieved his first coaching hat trick in the NHL with 3 wins in a row which were his first 3 games as coach of the Leafs in the NHL. Is there anyone still doubting his abilities to turn the Leafs into a powerhouse team?

Let's be honest. They played the Yotes...which aren't bad, a struggling Vegas team and the Wings who are maybe the worst team in the league. Temper your excitement and see how they do over 15 to 20 games is my suggestion. Way to hard to judge a team in 3 games.

I know it’s too early to tell. I wanna say this with the leafs getting a new coach and some confidence and a green light to be themselves I can see them and Boston taking the east by storm now with the caps and maybe the bolts can get going too.

All very valid points under most circumstances. This is a very different situation in that the Leafs have assembled a very high quality group of young players and they have now hired a very competent head coach in Sheldon Keefe who has won everywhere he has coached and all the players have been re-energized after being freed from Babcock. Do me a favour and google Sheldon Keefe coaching record and review his coaching history and you will note that he has paid his dues in junior hockey and AHL prior to being promoted as the Leafs coach. He was also the coach for about 13 of the current Leafs players with the Toronto Marlies which is a very big advantage for him and the team. You also have to realize that the rest of the Leafs quality players like Taveres, Matthews, Marner, Muzzen, Anderson, Barrie, Kerfoot etc.... who are new to Keefe have all heard about his winning track record as a head coach and are jumping on the Keefe bandwagon as they know a winner when they see one. You need to get on the Leafs bus now because it is starting to roll out and you are going to miss out on all the fun to be had while you wait another 15-20 games.

Close but actually they beat Arizona who you gave props about. Lowest goals against per game team so yeah, they’re not bad. Then they beat Colorado not Vegas, then the lowly Red Wings. But it was also all on the road and the first two wins came with only a single practice plus a morning skate with his new team. Keefe has more road wins than Babcock this year by the way lol

Dont get carried away to much, the fact that it was one training and the wins after only shows that Team started playing again, while they were performing "silent riot" on ice to kick Babcock out.....theres no wizardy, tho Keefe seems like person that will less stubbornly hang on his primary decisions about deployment of players.....

Lets see how first round playoffs will go again.....with two wingers playing D and no decent Backup.....

Yes and no.

1) The Coyotes are actually a very good team and TO dominated them, great goaltending is the reason why it was only 3-1.

2) They didn't play Vegas, they beat Colorado who are one of the best teams in the NHL

3) you are right, beating Detroit isn't anything to write home about. However, they did beat a team they were supposed to be best which hasn't been the case often enough over the past year.

I think there is very good reason to expect this to continue to turn around. I don't want to say powerhouse or anything but it's clear the team is better under Keefe. They play to their strengths and defensively they have been much improved as well. Nylander is back checking like a mad man under Keefe, there was one sequence where he chased down Larkin and stole the puck in the neutral zone. That kind of stuff never happened before.

Lol says the guy who's team has even less depth. Is older, has several bad contracts and who's cap situation next season is an absolute disaster. Yeah no sour grapes here at all.

I doubt if Keefe or any coach can turn the Leafs into a powerhouse team. But Keefe can certainly allow the Leafs to reach their potential.
Maybe the last three games if anything shows what an poor NHL coach Babcock was.

That certainly isn't true that the Leafs have worse 11 to 20 players. Lots of other team are one goalie away from an early vacation.
Since the Leafs became some what good they have lost three opening rounds in the rounds in the past three years. Let's get overall this illusion that Tampa is this super team. Last three seasons. missed the playoffs, won two rounds, and out in first round. Pretty average.

I think the Leafs have the pieces to absolutely be a powerhouse team. They are incredibly, deep, they have loads of talent and speed and their defence is very mobile. I think what these past 3 games show is that what this squad needed was a coach who wants to maximize their strengths and minimize their weaknesses. Which is better than Babs method of trying to make their weakness a strength at the cost of their actual strengths. I know many still think you need to be a tough team to win, but that is just nonsense. What you need to be is determined, you need to fight harder then who you are playing. When all things are equal, the more determined worker will carry the day. Keefe seems to be the perfect coach to motivate this squad and if they can get their effort above their competitors, the Leafs skill is just superior to most.
