If the Leafs are taking that Allen contract off the Blues there is no way in hell they are getting that much.

In fact that would be an overpayment even without Allen (and Ceci to be fair).
As a rental he will likely get the Duchene deal which is a 1st (or equivalent) and 2 b prospects (or equivalent)

Why would anyone want Allen? Salary and performance are awful.

Look back at the Karlsson and Muzzin trades to give yourself a price range for Pietrangelo...and then divide it in half.

Ceci and a pick, sure. Ceci and Hyman, sure.
Liljegren and a 1st is steep, probably too steep.
And Kapanen is a non starter.

Jake Allen is the worst goalie in the league, I would actually rather have Gustavsson or Enroth back over him and that's saying something.

Why would St. Louis make this deal? They are the #1 team in the west right now. So they should trade their captain and half of the goaltending tandem that took them to the cup last year?

IF they move Pietrangelo (and that's a huge IF) it's not for picks and prospects, it'll be for a player who they think can help them win, they are in win-now mode. I would bet they are much more likely to keep him as an own rental and worry about his contract in the offseason. It's not a sin to lose a player for nothing, because losing his performance over the rest of the season and the playoffs would be worse. Win now teams don't tend to deal their pending UFA's.

Not that I think this deal is good for either side but Allen was the half of the goalie tandem that had them in last place...

Yeah I certainly don't think he's great. But they have to be really sure they want to give Binnington a heavy workload before they move him, because they'd be replacing him with an AHL goalie. Nothing about this trade makes them better.

Worst goalie in the league, huh? This notion that Allen is so horrific in goal is a joke. In fact, he's one of the best road goalies in the league. Just ask Nashville about Monday. Of course, he's had plenty of struggles the last couple years and on bad nights he's his own worst enemy. His save percentage is still far better than several starters in this league, and he's never had a season below .905. The league average is currently .908. Folks go waaaay overboard trying to slam him. Sorry, he's not simply a cap dump. He can actually play some and steal points. Just not as often as he did a few seasons back.

He's just another goalie that rode a hot streak into a multi-year extension similar to Reimer. He would be a decent backup at one sixth of his cap hit but in today's game, cap dollars mean everything and Allen is worthless.

I feel like you don't know what the word "worthless" means. This ain't that. Those numbers are before he stopped 37 of 39 to steal a point in Nashville Monday.

As for your other comment, his "hot streak" lasted three years. He earned signing the contract, he just has had stretches (mostly at home for some reason) when he didn't live up to it. Even so, he has still won in COL twice, NASH twice, WASH, VEG, WPG and TOR among others since the start of last season. The party line on him is drastically overblown.

Performance + contract = worthless.

You're a fan of his, I get it. He isn't terrible and they all have good games but even at half price, for the Leafs, there is no conversation to be had.

Allen has been the team's Achilles heel for all but one year and if there was a market for him to date, he'd be gone.
