Description

Health and a Dman
Brodie can play both side, kills penalties, eats huge minutes, and is a + on a team with a -15 goal differential with positive metrics (Rinaldo just evens out salary exchange). He is a player that can pull Schultz up and solidify the second pair while letting Pettersson play in more of a sheltered role where he probably belongs for a little longer and makes that a very good third pair that can also play a lot of minutes to take some pressure off of Tanger and Dumo. Forward group is still deep with Lafferty/Simon/ZAR as your 13th forward and could add at the deadline if necessary as you still have some room.
The Flames get a forward that can play up and down there lineup at center or in a top nine winger role and a good backup that they desperately need with the way Talbot has been playing.
Pens could also retain a little on bjugstad but would prefer not to.

Brodie or Brodin would be ideal pick-ups for you guys. It will be interesting to see if Rutherford makes it happen.

I agree that Brodin would be nice, but I think he would cost a lot more and is not really a better player for what the penguins need so I think Brodie is the better option. Everyone on here thinks Brodin is going to cost a first + ... and I don't think that is worth it at this point

In a pinch he could be sent down to the minors and free up a little over a mill. I doubt a team would take him but if they did, two birds one stone kinda deal.

Yeah exactly. Maybe trade him (along with something of course) for cheaper yet better depth on defense or like throw in a high pick and go for a 2nd line fwd or 3rd liner.
