If Edmonton doesnt get a better offer this logically makes sense for both sides. However they wont do it bc last thing they want is for JP to find his game here

Jankowski's current ineffectiveness in the NHL this season warrants Edmonton at minimum keeps their 3rd Round Pick from the Lucic-Neal swap, and I'd argue that a 4th or 5th Round Pick to Edmonton would be in order due to differences in age and salary.

JP and jankowski both have the same amount of nhl points. The difference is that jankowski has a chance to improve that stat. If you ask me JP is making a huge mistake.

Its a good thing that I'm not asking you then.

A lot of people forget that Puljujarvi is 21 years old. He's younger than some prospects JUST breaking out into the NHL. He's younger than some guys still playing in the AHL that are expected to become NHL players in some capacity. His performance in Liiga is essentially equivalent to what we would see from him in the AHL.

If you're going to continue to base your opinions of what Puljujarvi is during his time as a 4th line forward on a team that's been otherwise unable to buy scoring support, then I can't help you. If you're willing to see how his usage in the AHL and in Europe paint the picture of a middle six forward with more to give than what he was forced to show us, then you'll understand why I'm bullish on his value. If you're ready to accept how poorly Edmonton mismanaged him (they made him live on his own and wouldn't pay for an English tutor, of course he wasn't going to adjust to the NHL) and that 30 other teams would be ready to insulate and develop him into an NHL roster player, you'll realize that he's very much not a Yakupov yet.

But until either of those things are understood, he's going to be the same 0.20ppg player that "has no value" despite all the evidence to the contrary.

I’m basing my opinion about what the team Finland scouts had to say about him at tha karjala cup.

Maybe you should quit acting smug...

I'd love a link to what those scouts said. My own half-hour delve into the back pages of Google and HFBoards have only turned up a few comments on his wide loops and tendency to "wait for something to happen" when the puck isn't on his stick. Those are similar issues to what was observed in Edmonton, and a strong development system can stamp those out over the course of a year.

I'm not being smug or trying to pick a fight, I just wholly disagree with your assessment on Puljujarvi. If you really wanted to get into it, I'd have noted that Jankowski has effectively matched Puljujarvi's production in roughly 40 more games played. He's four years older (and likely stronger due to his physical development) and grew up speaking English; Jankowski's clearly been able to communicate with teammates and coaching staffs. Mark is what he is at this point, and expecting him to rebound or to become a high-end #3C is incredibly unlikely. Equating him to Puljujarvi is phenomenally naive: there's still a bit of runway on what Jesse's career could be, but if he's not going to be put into an environment that will allow him to achieve it, it won't happen.

Just because that place isn't Edmonton doesn't mean Puljujarvi doesn't have value. I'd argue that his raw potential and that he's barely old enough to drink in America is still enticing to 30 teams across the NHL. A general manager's job in this case is to extract maximum value for Puljujarvi, and it's the job of 30 other general managers to get him for the cheapest deal possible. The middle ground is somewhere in-between, and odds are, it's closer to Edmonton's ask than anyone else's. Other teams are approaching Edmonton, not vice-versa. There's no rush to trade him here.

Be open to re-assessing your biases and don't get flustered when someone calls you out for a bad take.
