Interesting

For such little effort, it isn’t a bad trade at all. Decent 1 for 1.

Little effort but still one of the most reasonable Ghost trades on here. Good job.

Value pretty darn spot on. Not sure the positions are what either team needs but if that is what they need, solid trade!

Detroit desperately needs a defenseman, but we desperately need a center and a goalie and a right handed winger as well so that's not saying much lol, but as a redwings fan I'd be happy with this trade

Has Ghost really fallen off because last year the Wings would have needed to add much more to get this to go through

Hmm I wouldn't say fallen off. He's still good but the expectation was that he'd be a 65 point player going forward. I think its pretty clear that was just a break out year but an outlier at the same time. He seems to be more a 30-40 point 18-20 min a night offensive dman. (Which is still good) That's not nothing but its certainly not a vintage Erik Karlsson type numbers dman that some were thinking he was going to be. Another example of this is Erik Gustafsson in Chicago.

Secondly, not sure why Athanasiou wouldn't be fair? Guy was a 30 goal scorer just last year.... I think where they are right now and even looking who they were at their best of times, is pretty evenly valued. Give or take a draft pick on whichever side best negotiates or is more desperate, etc. But talking just straight value, they're pretty darn even. At that point it comes down to what the needs of either team is. If both teams are getting a player of position they need and giving up something they have depth already in, this is a match made in heaven.

True. I guess I just assumed because Athanasiou has just been really underwhelming this year and has been known as a streaky player I thought his value would be lower than a top 4 defenseman but I see where you are coming from

Well lets not beat around the bush, Ghost has been equally disappointing........ Athanasiou does play on one of the worst teams in the league. Kind of hard to crap on a guy when the team is a -45 goal differential. The whole team stinks.
