Yeah, make it Kreider for the first and Russell and a late 2021 pick, say 5th found, that could be bumped up to a 2nd if Kreider resigns.

Rangers have absolutely no need for Russel (especially if Miller makes the leap from NCAA) and it also kills their cap next year with Shatty's buyout increasing by roughly 5m.. to have 9m in dead cap spaceis just too much.. only way it'll happen is if Staal retires due to injury (which it seems he is trying to return unfortunately).

Puljujarvi would be needed in any deal for kreider, i would say change the pick to a 3rd that turns into a 1st if kreider resigns or edmonton makes the stanley cup final

I'd be ok with that, but the only way Edmonton can do it is if Russell agrees to be traded to NYR as salary filler otherwise they won't have room to sign him. Retain and flip him

edmonton has tried and failed to do that.. so even if the rangers magically could, you can only retain 50% which at most is 2m, which still leaves us with over 8m in dead cap space (it was over 10 before after i actually looked at the numbers).. rangers wouldn't accept any trade with russel that isn't a massive overpayment due to cap constrictions they have themselves. If the condition isn't met the condition isn't met, rangers will just want protection in case edmonton pulls it off.
