Red Wings don’t do it. Mantha is a really good young player, and while Podkolzin has really good potential, he’s not a sure thing.

As a Wing's fan I have to agree Detroit isn't trading Mantha especially if they trade AA.

He did take longer than expected to transition from the AHL to the NHL. When he was in the AHL Jimmy Devellano did call him out on his work ethic it wasn't long after that when he was called up.

Mantha is 2 years younger chronologically and 3 years apart by draft class. I'm curious what is/was Gallagher's celling?

detroit has so few nhl pieces I cant see mantha moving unless its a crazy offer or the contract talks go really bad this offseason.

So at 25, is Mantha now looked at as the NHL-proven "prototype" that Det of going to use as an example for their young guns? Because, imo, if they want to stockpile picks/prospects he'd bring back a good return

While has young talent that needs to mature but the Wing's haven't scored since Mantha got injured. They just scored as I'm typing this response.

I’m just saying, if Podkolzin pans out, he could be better than Mantha. But there’s also a large chance that he doesn’t sniff the NHL. So I don’t think Detroit would want to make that gamble without getting something else in return.

hes a legit first line winger on a team who has what 5 or 6 players on that whole team. I knew theyd be bad but they've been ridiculously bad. You cant move everyone and keep adding to the bottom. I think its more you keep him now and in 2 years if the tunnel isn't any brighter you unload him then. id look at a guy like jeff skinner and say thats a comparable path.
