Bad trade for Buffalo, Turris has been scratched multiple times recently and will only block the growth of Mittelstadt and Cozens. Also Nashville probably doesnt want to have to protect 4 defense at the expansion again

Trading from a position of strength to address a position of weakness is never a bad move IMO. You are basically talking about a half million dollar difference in their salaries so, that is feasible. I guess it boils down to this... Is Turris at 6.0 as your #2 C for the next five years bringing your team more value than RR in your top four D for the next three?

That is a lot of money for what equates to a 30ish point centre which is what Turris has been for the last couple of years.

Nashville isn't exactly in the market for RHD but I'm guessing this is more of a cap dump on their part? I don't think this makes the Preds or the Sabres significantly better at all to be honest.

They could use another Top 4 dman.. and just let him go at the expansion draft.. or let go of a less important foward like Smith.. ?

I think Risto is awful. Like hot garbage on ice when it comes to all things defense but I think he could fetch a greater return. His perceived value is worth more than Turris at this point

i'd be happy just to have risto's salary off of the books. i don't want turris back for that reason. send him somewhere who needs cap defenseman but where we don't have to bring salary back. i'd like to get risto and mccabe traded so we'll have 7+ million in salary to resign our RFA and make an offseason winger signing.
