as a Habs fan, id say no. Fleury really hasn't done much his time in the league, and he's just another stop gap, someone who can play bottom 6 minutes but not be the answer at left defence we need. giving up a 3rd and Danault for a stop gap and a player who has a significant chance of not being as good as Danault is no deal for me

Fleury - Fleury Third Pairing!!!! I am in!

Although, I don't think Montreal has to add a pick. And it certainly clears room for our young centers.

Would that be the first time a team would have 2 sets of brothers playing on the same team? Possibly even making up 2/3 of a forward and a defense pairing, I like it.

I don't meet that criteria but I would think that's enough to pry Danault away. Uniting the Suzuki (and to a lesser extent the Fleury) brothers would be unreal

Montreal has no interest in a trade like that. Danault is one of the better defensive centers in the league and is among the highest producing 5V5 players in the league. You don't trade him under any circumstances.

Question, who do you trade then? Domi is deemed better at Center than wing. Everyone wants Poehling, Kotkaniemi and Suzuki at Center in the near future. Last time I checked, NHL rosters only have 4 center spots, and one shouldn't get a whole lot of ice time either. It's a nice problem to have, but Montreal has 5 young players for 3-4 roster spots (depending on the role of the 4th line) in the next 2 seasons.

Danault is great, and valuable. But he can be traded in the right deal. Or, counter with which of the above stated players you would trade/convert to wing instead.

You don't trade Danault. If that requires moving Domi to the wing or even trading him, you do it. He just has to relearn how to play winger. Suzuki can play wing (As he is now).

Danault, KK, Poehling are the 3 future C's
