Yeah I don't think TO would part with a top 6 forward for a backup. I imagine there are cheaper options available.

From Leafs perspective, DeSmith would not cost that much. The other components of that deal don't really mean that much to Toronto. Hard pass from the Leafs. I have no vested interest in the other ones so I will not comment on those.

I dont think the sabres have the space to take a player without salary going back. Our gm loves all things pittsburgh so its possible, i mean its not like rutherford hasnt off-loaded some small time cap dumps on botterill already.

He would give them that and it wouldn't really cost them anything, it would also only be a 1 year deal.
I say that as they have been falling out the playoffs like a rock.
