I think your defense was also not very good in this game, although we had Eichel on fire today and Vesey finally woke up.

We just gave the game away. That ridiculous giveaway in front of the net was horrendous. Matthews should get an assist on that Sabres goal. Then again, it would have been nice if the G stopped just one of those.

They did get a bit cute at times and it cost a goal or two but Hutch isn't an NHL goalie. 3 of those were for sure bad goals. Even that tip went almost to the middle of the net and still squeaked under his pad. You have to turn up the offence if you can't count on the goalie to make a save. I guess you give Kaskisou one chance and then if he fails you make a move. But it's going to cost them since they are over a barrel at that point.

3.55 xGA on the night for the Leafs, which, yeah eesh. Same token though, league average or better goaltending from Hutch gives them OT or a regulation win. Realistically, a league-average backup performance means 4 GA, which means OT that can go either way.

The good news is that they have a solid starter and, given the choice, a great starter and crap backup is better than 2 that are both decent.
