Can BOS afford to sign Hall? If so I dont think they would have space for Krug and would likely need to trade Backes' contract too

Don’t want or need him. Why bother.

And that is terrible.

Like I wouldn’t call it terrible. Maybe I overpaid? but imo I’d take Taylor hall over Jake Debrusk. I love Debrusk but that’s just my opinion.

Basically extending hall would mean krug turns into the rental. Let krug walk, promote Grizz and Urho to full time roles. Unless the bruins find a way to unload backes which I don’t think they will

I like the idea for sure. But, if I'm Sweeney I would think twice about giving away Debrusk, just because he's one of Boston's few established U25 core players (McAvoy, Carlo, maybe Heinen). Taking out a guy like him gives you the better player in Hall, but adds another 5 years in age and $5M more in cap hit with an extension, which makes it even harder to resign Krug. After guys like Marchand, Krejci, Bergeron and Hall (?) age you gotta look for the next wave to remain relevant and I see Debrusk as part of the internal solution. Thoughts?

Hall’s name is bigger than his production.

In 10 years in the league he has 1 season with more goals than Debrusk had last year.

10 seasons. Only 2 exceed 65 points.

532 points in 10 years. In perspective. Krejci has 511 in that same span.

Complete waste. He’d want 10+ on his next contract. Even if you move Backes off the books completely and the cap goes to 83 next year, you’d have roughly 14m for the remaining 7 spots. Grizz/Halak take half of that at minimum.

He was quoted in an interview saying how Boston is doing it the right way, taking lesser contracts and building around them. IF he were to land in Boston I don’t doubt tht he would take a potential pay cut. Who are the centers hes played with? Honestly asking because I don’t know. Would they be considered better than krejci? And I’m not saying this is the right path to go, it’s just my opinion on how/if the bruins were to approach the hall sweepstakes what it would take.

Yeah like I said to me in my opinion this is really the only option that the bruins have in acquiring hall. I just don’t think don would give up any of the kids. He wouldn’t do it for stone last year, can’t see him doing it for hall. Just my opinion on how I think they’d have to approach it

Hall is better than debrusk of course, but debrusk has more value in trade due to age, and years of control.

I think the trade is pretty awful for the bruins.

I was trying to take into account of the extension and retainment. I didn’t really know where to value it at

B's need is not spelled H-A-L-L !!!!!!!!!
The need in 2019-20 is on RW (C) for 2nd line...think "Konecny, Tuch, Tyler J, Rakell, Eberle, Atkinson, Silfverberg E. Lindholm, Palmieri, Reinhart, etc. etc."
or...the STUD!! (hmmm he's in-house, no trade required - now this I like)...

I highly doubt he’s taking a significant discount to play for a team he has no allegiance to or history with. Praising the way they do business and actually doing business with them...2 totally different things.

From a value standpoint. 1st and Debrusk to me is to high of a price.

I understand the logic you are using of IF they were going to do it. And how they’d have to go about it to not only land him but free up space to sign him as well.

But i don’t like it. Short term or long.

Luckiky, i think he ends up in Colorado.

yeah debrusk is good enough to be on that second line and contribute but not good enough to demand a huge salary in the offseason. you keep that dude
