Interesting deal, Shaw is the kinda player the Leafs could use and need.

Shaw has been awful this year, lets not trade some good cheap players for him yah?
Also your daily reminder that Campbell sucks chunks

Shaw has not been awful...you must be one of those guys who rates forwards on points alone. Shaw is playing a checking role with the Hawks unlike MTL. He's been playing pretty good.

Remove johnsson and replace with Kap and you have a deal. Otherwise Hawks hang up the phone.

Murphy is too valuable to trade away right now. I’m also not enthused with the package. Swap Murphy with Matta and I think it’s fair.

Why would you even consider trading Murphy?

Because Boqvist and Mitchell are ready next year and seabs isn't going anywhere. Coupled with the fact we need a speedy winger that can play on the top 6...that would be Kap. Murphy has been great, but this season is lost.

I think Murphy aught to be worth Kap alone.

I don't disagree with that. So what is Murphy and Shaw worth? I think Kap, Ceci and Moore isn't bad, although there has to be a better fit then Moore.

Switch Moore with a second/third?

Why tho? Murphy is massive defensive upgrade over Ceci and Shaw is just slight downgrade from Johnsson.

Ahh yes, I - the stats need that doesn't give a **** about points when it comes to player evaluation is evaluating Shaw on points alone

Exactly, and Shaw not only is an agitator but plays the front of the net, is great on the forecheck and good defensively.

Agitator, net front presence, great on the forecheck, excellent on defense, and plays up and down the lineup. The Leafs don't have that in a player, they have a bunch of guys that score points but aren't "tough" or play enough defense. Pretty hard to evaluate guys like that based on points. You were the same guy that undervalues Saad yet Saad has been excellent and delivers a ton more then just 20+ goals and 50 points.

Could have been jamiepo who was crapping all over Saad or Lauden.

Who do the Leafs have like Shaw?

Going specifically by you definition provided earlier, Hyman, mikheyev, Moore, johnsson. Basically the entire left wing

None of those guys IMO add the grit of shaw and willingness to throw the gloves with anyone on the other team.

That's great. They may not have as much grit, but they are all better at hockey. That is a trade off I am willing to make

That's a very broad claim "all better at hockey", what is hockey? Points, hits, forecheck, puck handling, shots, etc. I wouldn't take Hyman or Moore over Shaw. Johnsson and Mikheyev for sure.
