Created by: ChiHawk

Initial Creation Date: Nov. 30, 2019
Published: Nov. 30, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Hawks, time to start planning for next season.

Hawks fans, we will talk to Lehner and tell him we want him back and will give him a great offer, but need to focus on making the team better for the future and let him chase a cup.

In the meantime, let the kids play. Put Nylander in the AHL.

This is a deep draft, get a few #1 picks Bowman.

Leafs pass on that. Kapanen is actually good.. Why would the Leafs give up a good, young, cheap player for nothing?

Carolina might give you 1 1st, not two.

How so? You don't think Lehner, a top 5 goalie in the league, and Saad who's a 50 point two way power forward wouldn't make the difference for Carolina? Every player you are giving up is a dump...keep them...Hawks don't want them.

Bottom line, Saad is worth a 2nd and 3rd, Lehner a 1st and 3rd. Taking on dumps in Mzarek, McGinn and TVR, upgrades Saad's worth from a 2nd and 3rd to a 1st.

So Murphy is nothing? Shaw is nothing? Do you watch hockey? And Ceci is cap dump.

Actually one of rare good trades from your side lately where you arent scamming TML and its also working for 2020/2021, i acquired DeSmith for backup and this still leaves 8,3M for 2 Ds ( Muzzin, Dermott or someone fished in Offseason )

Toronto trade seems pretty fair tbh, gives them a RD with term whos solid defensively and a mich needed gritty forward. In exchange Chicago gets a solid 2-way middle 6 player and takes on Ceci's contract for the year. However I think Toronto needs a better partner for Rielly, a puck moving defenseman probably.

Carolina trade is decently off. The pieces Chicago is getting back are not cap dumps, they are solid depth players and a solid 1A/B goalie. Regardless of if the pieces going to the canes are better Lehner is a rental and Saad only has 2 years i could see one 1st but not 2

So remove the players coming back to Chicago. TVR is a rental that Chicago doesn't need. Riemer could swap for Mrazek; either one. Was just trying to move cap for Carolina.

They're certainly not nothing but I don't see them as prime pieces in a trade for Toronto to trade away Kapanen. And the only reason you're having to include Ceci is because of the multiple mediocre talents you're offering for him.

Murphy is good but not good enough to get Kap, Ceci isn't terrible either. Murphy is 2nd pair while Ceci should he bottom 4, so they aren't that far off in value. Shaw doesn't matter though and has another year of term correct? I don't think TO would look to Chicago for defensive help though. More like they'd want a goalie.

Shaw has two more years. Murphy is worlds better then Ceci and would be an automatic 1st pairing on Toronto. We don't want nor need Ceci, he'd be a 3rd pairing on Chicago next year but Hawks already have Seabs who's contract can't be moved. What I was going for is trying to take cap back as Toronto has no cap space, not placing any value on Ceci.

I know which is unfair I think. Ceci's reputation is a bit overboard. He's definitely an above average bottom pair guy at the least.

Its not that hard to be the first pairing RHD on the leafs.

Agree, as mentioned elsewhere is why I said Murphy is really a #3 or #4 guy on most teams, on the Leafs he's easily a #2.

Big trades and look quite fair, if the leafs aren't quite happy with that trade, add the 5th round picked up from NJD.

As for Carolina, I can see what your trying to achieve here and it looks to help balance both teams.

As for the scenario overall, I would loath to lose Saad, Murphy and Lehner but changes is what we need it seems.
