If they can lock up debrusk to that they will, but yes it will likely be a bridge.
Halak will definitely get around 5 million (Lehner deal), and the bruins will likely call up Keyser next year as he will be ready to play and develop into the starting goaltender he can be.
Miller does not re-sign
Yep Jersey rejects, but it is much closer than all the ones I have seen offering like Moore and two good prospects cuz everyone wants to overpay
Backes will hopefully be traded (to minnestoa!?)
Chara will come back, but a smaller 1 year deal again

Overpay on Ritchie, Underpay on Bjork, and Kuhlman may get a two-way deal, but would be 1 year
slight slight slight overpay on krug, but not much at all lol (7 mil vs 7.3)

I can’t see to many scenarios where they can afford to give Debrusk any more than a bridge.

Halak won’t get 5 unless someone is going to make him a starter. With Lehner, Crawford, Greiss, Markstrom, Howard and others hitting FA market i doubt that happens. Keyser not close to ready. Been very shaky at AHL and might get demoted with Darth healthy again. Especially after the 35 save shutout yesterday.

He could be a starter anywhere, I brought up Lehner to prove that point. Lehner and Greiss split the NYI goaltending last year, Lehner played extremely well (like Halak is now), and got paid. The top UFA goalies will be Lehner, Halak, and then others... So he will absolutely get paid

How many teams pay backups 5m? Lehner got that in Chi because of Crawford health. He got same offer from Carolina and isles where he would gave been #1 or co #1. If Halak does not find a situation similar and is taking a backup role he will not get 5M. And with plenty of quality goalies on the market and only a couple #1 jobs available it’s unlikey. Vancouver might be a nice fit. They lose Markstrom and are not paying Demko much. They can bring in a short term guy on a decent contract to split time. Same with Caps if Holtby walks. Supply and demand will put him in a difficult spot to get more than 3.5 somewhere.

He isnt a backup, thats what you are not understanding. He is and always has been a starter, in the past couple years (with STL and MTL and his first and last year in New York) his play has declined which is why they bought him out and he signed as a backup in boston, but because he is showed himself to be a terrific goaltender again (.924 SV% and 2.34 GAA with Boston) he will sign somewhere else as a starter.
Lehner signed to start in Chicago as there was uncertainty about whether Crawford would play or not this season (concussions), but you didnt care to look into that, you just wanted to prove me wrong, meaning that yes: a starter (like Lehner or Halak) can and will get a 1 to 2 year 5 million dollar deal

OMG Seriously? Untwist your panties.

First Halak was never bought out. Anywhere. He’s been traded a couple times. He signed 4 year deal with Isles and played the entire contract there. They put him on waivers at one point, he cleared and went to AHL for awhile.

Second, no he could not be a starter anywhere, that’s ridiculous. He’s not the #1 where he is is he? He is not going to Tampa and supplant Vas, or Anaheim and oust Gibson, or 20 other teams either. Just silly to even say that.

Third he has always been a starting caliber type of goalie. He has not always had a starters job though. Sometimes there are more asses than there are seats. Musical goalies.

Just because he has starter talent does not mean he gets starter job and starter $. Understand? Teams don’t pay guys they bring in to be backups 5m regardless if they are starting quality or not.

There will be between 2 and 7 starting jobs open next year depending how things play out. And half of those would have to move out someone that is already under contract for that to happen. The rest are already filled. And with Holtby, Lehner, Crawford, Greiss, Markstrom hitting the market along with Halak, Howard, Smith.Talbot and others. It’s going to be musical goalies. And that does not factor in guys who could be traded like Raanta, Georgiev, Dubnyk, Quick, Allen that could change the landscape of the market.

Then there is the problem of his age. His next contract will be a 35+ contract. No cap relief if he flatlines. So teams will be looking at 1 or 2 years tops. Most of the teams that will be looking for starting goalies are not looking for a short term stopgap. Buffalo would be a great spot. Hutton and Ullmark make nothing combined and are average at best. Halak could split time there for around 4m while giving UPL a year or 2 to develop. If they have the cap space, and the desire to do it.

So it does not matter if he has starting ability. What matters is - is there is a starters job, co-starter, or highly paid mentor/backup to a kid making nothing available.

There are not many openings and more bodies available to fill them than there are slots. Musical goalies.

If he gets one...great for him, best of luck. If not B’s will take him back at 3. If not...Dobby is a UFA too...musical goalies.

I stopped reading after "Untwist your panties". Please be kind on this website, its for people to discuss things. Also please just respects others opinions (especially when they are clearly backed by fact).

That’s unfortunate.

You see there is a difference between fact and opinion. Fact is undeniable . Opinion is neither right or wrong and open for debate.

Example:

It’s a fact that Halák has been a starter most of his career and excelled in Boston.

It is your OPINION that that will lead to him getting a $5m deal and a #1 job. But not a fact.

It could very well happen. But might not either. Had you read my previous comment you might have gained some perspective as to why rather than just being bent out of shape because someone offered a counterpoint to what you believe.

As to the panty twist comment. Wow, easily offended much? No offense was meant by it. Sorry you took it that way. It was meant as a playful jab. But It was because that is the 3rd time this month you said “You are just trying to prove me wrong” which sounds like a childish tantrum honestly and gives the impression you have no interest in debating/discussing opinions or ideas. You just want to be told you are right.

Sorry....life does not work that way. But at least you are at the right place because there is lot of that on this site. ??‍♂️

If it makes you feel better you are often right when it comes to matters of the Bruins. ??
