If COL trades for hall it’s probably going to be Timmons and a 1st with a conditional 2nd on him resigning. That’s a really good deal for both sides.

That's an offer that pretty much every contending team can match. This would be a move where Sakic is aggressive to get the best rental in the market and all the other teams have to scramble to match him (likely overpaying for lesser quality players) while also not going full Kekalainen

they hall can go somewhere else, Avs do not need Hall at all,
If you dont follow the Avs and how Sakic does business, then you wouldnt know that this trade you are proposing goes against every fiber of the teams philosophy

I find it amusing how eastern team fans keep on trying to explain it to Avs fans how they need to trade for Hall and how they need to give up Byram...sure random Maple leafs or whatever fan you know the Avs better than us

I mean they probably won't but Hall isn't signing an extension for any team mid-season with Ferris as his agent so trade scenarios with that as a provision aren't likely. I think Colorado has been dominant this season and are looking for something to put them over the top. With the former Hart winner they easily become the favourite in the West. It also gives them like 7 months to showcase how great an organization they are and try and persuade him to re-sign next July. Like 99.9% of ACGMS this scenario isn't likely, but it's something fun to consider.

The avalanche need taylor hall because their only tied for 1st place in goals per game... and taylor hall's 4 goals are going to make you #1 without the tie...not to mention your current 2nd line wingers have the same amount of points or more than hall... who needs a #1 defenseman when you can get 4 goals per 25 games

Colorado doesn't NEED to do anything. They're a very good team and its reflected in the standings. My apologies for ruining your Monday morning with a fun "what if" scenario, I assure you it was not my intent. The reason everyone keeps suggesting Colorado is because they are a great team with high aspirations, cap space and assets to make it happen. 99% of Hall trade proposals feature team A fleecing NJ by only offering conditional picks and B level prospects with a guarantee Hall will re-sign. Far be it from me to suggest that acquiring value would also cost something valuable or that Joe Sakic might want to be bold this season given how well his team is performing.

Perhaps if Taylor Hall didn't play alongside 2 folding chairs he'd have more goals. Given that the New Jersey Devils are as equally as terrible as the city of Newark, it could be that Hall would flourish with a different supporting cast. I'm guessing if Kadri were his center all season long, he'd have more success.

Hall has had a bad year but his numbers would obviously go up on Colorado. I think Colorado considers this regardless because if you have a chance to add a significant piece for a cup run when you are already at the top of the league, you take it. Trading Byram for a cup would easily be worth it even if Hall doesn't sign.

Also I think calling Byram a #1 D before he has played a game in the NHL is a bit much.

Avs could use a LW...but a Top 9 winger bc they cant rely on Wilson being healhty for a full season or playoffs...but its not Hall for Byram LW bc they need to "load up"

Well it's basically guaranteed that if a D is taken in the top 5 they're going to be a true #1 D.

Just ask Ryan Murr..

Griffin Rein...

Adam Larss...

Erik Johns..

Maybe he should get a game first eh?

Who was it that hall was traded for?

After how many subpar seasons by Larsson?

Babs, that's funny, the Newark thing isn't! ; )
Hall's still about a point per game player and what he was on track for last year. I think his problem is, he thinks too much about things other than hockey (Edm trade to NJ, Pending UFA, wanting to be on a winner). The Avs 2nd line wingers are def having a good year, but they ain't Hall, everyone sees through that, so try selling something else.
Hall puts Colo over for this and the next few yrs. I say yes. Does Sakic see that being worth it?
In the end Hall signs with Jersey or an extension with team he's moved to ala Stone IMO.

Ya so... this pt/g former first overall pick was traded 1 for 1 for a subpar dman... but now that hes older and injury prone and going to demand about 11 million in the offseason, sakic should give up their best prospect for him at a highly sought after position??

Enjoy MTL mr hall

You know what?!?!?!?!

I'll back take my comment on the City of Newark. I only ever passed through there once and wasn't a fan but I often reserve judgment on players based on a small sample size so I guess I should do the same for an entire God Damn City. Should I ever spend more time across the Hudson, I will report back with a more accurate analysis
