NJ NOT Hall

Created by: tony135420
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 1, 2019
Published: Dec. 2, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
TOR
  1. Severson, Damon
  2. Simmonds, Wayne ($2,500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Simmonds would be a great depth add for a playoff bound team and Severson is a solid top 4 RHD.
NJD
  1. Bracco, Jeremy
  2. Ceci, Cody
  3. Johnsson, Andreas
Additional Details:
Johnsson is a great top 6 forward, as is Bracco, who I believe is ready to jump to the big leagues. He needs to be in a top 6 role to be effective. Ceci for cap reasons, but is also controlled at seasons end. He's been good but far from a top 4 d-man, as such, his salary doesn't fit his talent level.

Severson would be a perfect fit for the Leafs, being a top 4 DFD and cost controlled.

Not tryna be an a hole, but Severson is the opposite of a DFD

Well you can't blame a team's record solely on one player though. I don't know NJD too well I'll admit, but I think NJD more so have depth issues and a bad coach imo.

Really? When I watch him, he's just super lazy with little motivation.

Hmm that's fair enough. I like analytics but I do agree watching the player play with your own eyes is important as well. Maybe some context is missing there.

ceci isn't good and our issue isn't our offense currently, its defense.

I agree, but NJ has several issues unfortunately. Johnsson is a great two way player, most comfortable in the top 6. He is the most expendable on the Leaf roster with the depth on LW. Ceci is not going to help NJ defensively, but is cost controlled and an NHL dman. He may benefit by going to a team not so under a microscope. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to sell him or anything. He is nothing more than a cap compliance addition. The gem here is most likely Bracco. I believe NJ would be pleasantly surprised by how good this kid is offensively.

Stop with the Bracco, he's great in the A, won't do much in the big league.
You wanna work something out around Vatanen (retained) and Train for Kapanen+, sure, otherwise no.

severson isn't getting traded tho. He's one of our bright spots defensively on a great contract.
