You are not getting anywhere close to Kopitar for that pile of garbage.

I think LA passes on 4 bottom 6 forwards and a 2nd rd pick for one of the top centers in the league.

It amazes me you think you could get a 1st for Ristolainan (who I actually like), but Kopitar doesn't.

I dont think much of the trade, but kopitar is gonna make 10 million until he is 37. Not a lot of teams can make the cap hit work, or would want a player making that much at that age

Yeah it looks like you're asking a lot for risto and not giving much for kopitar. I think you're going to need to reassess your value of the players here.

Kopitar trade is pretty terrible. Considering the Kings are rebuilding, they're only going to want futures, and it's going to be a 1st round pick and an A+ prospect along with some B prospects and cap dumps/roster players.

So, start with Buffalo's 2020 1st round pick, add Cozens, Rodrigues, Pilut, and Okposo. If Buffalo needs more short term cap relief, the Kings could take Bogosian, Scandella, and/or Sobotka. Kings would probably have to throw in a roster player or two to stay below the contracts limit, so they'd include Lewis, Ryan, Hutton, and/or LaDue to offset.

Kopitar will be 37 when contract is up and making 10 million. Not many team will take on that contract and that lowers his value.

I think it lowers his value in a couple years for sure, but right now he is still pretty good and in order to get him you'd have to give something good to get him.

Kopitar does not have that much value he is 32 and making 10 million. Also the first deal you made is very similar to deal i made. I think Mitts and second vs 1st and cozens are pretty close.

I think Bennet is bust and has done nothing and has very little value, Frolik is a cap dump. The prospect was a late first round pick and didnt realize he was playing that well. Also, the first round pick would be lottery protected.

If it's similar, then you shouldn't have a problem agreeing to it. The main benefit for the Kings is that Cozens is expansion draft exempt, while Middlestat is not.

Benneyt is only a bust if RNH is, hes an important member of the team despite never panning out as a center and has been blocked by Gaudreau and Tkachuk his entire career

Yeah that is why the sabres wouldnt do it. And I dont think kings would have any problem protecting players.

Bennett is under a 30 point player for his career, meanhwile RNH has been steady around 60. They are not even close to the same player.

The kings have a logjam at defense that will require protection. They would prefer to go 4/4/1 instead of 7/3/1 if they have the option. The only way to do that is to move out some high profile forwards like Kopitar.

I strongly disagree that a 2nd and Middlestat is even remotely similar to a 1st and Cozens. First of all, a 1st and 2nd round pick are orders of magnitude apart. Second, Cozens is a significantly higher ceiling prospect than Middlestat. Pronmon just published an article today on The Athletic stating that he significantly overrated Middlestat in his pre-season prospect ratings.

If you want to include Middlestat over Cozens, then add both Buffalo's 2020 and 2021 1st round picks to the trade instead of that 2nd and maybe the Kings will bite.

Lmao. For a 32 year old making 10 million for 5 more seasons? Come on

...and for taking on 4 seasons of Okposo's terrible contract. Kopitar is still an elite player that is worth every dollar of that contract. He's a PPG player on one of the worst teams in the league.

Right now. In 2 years he will be 50 point player at best and then down hill from there.

Even if that's true, he'll still be a quality 3C and significantly better than Okposo, who will also continue to decline and who the Kings will be stuck with until that contract expires.

You get arguably one of the top three two-way centers in the game and dump one of the league's worst contracts in exchange for a 1st, Cozens, and some throw-ins. If anything, that trade is still significantly in Buffalo's favor.

Regardless, Kopitar has a NMC and wouldn't waive to go to Buffalo, so it's all moot anyway.
