I mean, if there ever was a time to rig a draft for Montreal, now would be the time. LOL

I said two years ago that there’s like a 99% chance Lafreniere is either a Hab or Senator

it would make perfect sense

the draft is trying to give lower market teams the big superstars to build up a fanbase and exicitement in that city therefore bringing in more money

so the senators would make sense because they are in desperate need of a star

although montreal is not a lower market team

the hype and the increase of sales would be insane .

plus like it just makes sense

Bell Center will be full no matter what they throw out there. I honestly don't think the league cares about the disgruntled fans.

LA will get him.

On a side note - The Habs were decent and heading in the right direction just a couple years ago. The Franchise should have been restored, but you traded two franchise dmen for an aging dinosaur and an underachieving French kid. You blew the 2018 Draft because you couldn't bring yourself to draft a tough American kid & you only hire coaches who speak French. Maybe time for MTL to be proactive instead of waiting for the original 6 draft rules to come back.

That's not how it works. The revenue sharing eliminates that. They would rather have the big stars in big markets. No offense, but being a virtual nobody (Overstatement) in LA is going to bring more attention and money than being the most popular guy in OTT.

McDavid is the perfect example. That dude should be a household name & he's not because he plays in Edmonton.

If the draft was ever truly rigged. Smaller market teams would get 1st and 2nd overall. The league head office doesn’t give two poops if the Habs suck, tickets and merchandise will sell regardless. They’d want the franchise type players to go to smaller markets to increase its popularity / revenue

Obviously he is with Hockey fans, but if you asked some random person in Oklahoma, they are not going to have a clue who you are talking about. Hockey has it's strong & dedicated fan base, but relatively small compared to other major sports.

All you have to do is look at what Gretzky did for Hockey when he was traded to LA. Edmonton didn't' lose any fans, but the US & LA in particular exploded.
