Murray for Hall

Created by: Chigurrhh
Team: 2019-20 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 2, 2019
Published: Dec. 2, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
New Jersey gets a goalie to potentially build around, Bjugstad can be a useful player next year.

Getting rid of Murray and Bjugstad basically gives the Penguins room to sign him long term. This deal would be made with that agreement in place.

Are you trying to come up with the worst possible trades for Pittsburgh with each of your AGMs?

Since PIT and NJ are division rivals, I think PIT should add. The idea is decent, but I'd imagine that NJ wants a future asset in any trade involving Hall, and if they end up helping Pens cap-wise to potentially sign Hall long-term, I think they want some compensation for that...

If the goal is to win a cup, Taylor Hall helps you much more than Murray does. The last two years have indicated that there isn't exactly a big difference between Murray, Jarry, and DeSmith. Giving Murray a long term deal with his inconsistencies isn't very appealing to me. Get rid of him and use that cap space on a Hart Trophy winner in his prime to get the most out of this window. Rutherford says the Jarry is a guy that can be a no.1 goalie.

Oh, wait. He's a minus 9. Guess he's terrible.

this isn't winning a cup this year. 1/2 of the core is on IR

No thanks. Hard pass from the pens. They could just put a QO on murray and let someone else bid for him and give him 6+ million. Get the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick. Trade Bjugstad in the offseason or trade deadline for a 2nd or 3rd round pick, then sign Hall in the offseason for free

They are all coming back eventually and not getting younger.

by the time they come back this team is out of the race.
Even if they do come back, Dumo isn't coming back normal, he needs time to heal from that. No player comes back playing normal in 8 weeks from an ankle injury of any kind where they are booted.
It just isn't that simple.
They were already a bubble team. They are as good as done now.

which is why the penguins would never do this.

I don't even like the idea of hall.
He's 29 years old next year, gonna want a 7-8 year deal....who wants to pay hall until he's 36. Not me. Someone else can deal with that mess. That's a mistake in the waiting. He's peaked, it's all down hill on him.

What a silly overreaction. There are only 12games in December. Then there’s a break. By then everyone except maybe Dumoulin will be back. Chill out, bro.

There is no promise Crosby will be back by Jan 1st. None. That's a best case rush him back pace. It's more likely he isn't back till Mid January at the earliest. No one wants to rush a star player out there. Dumo will not be the same the rest of the season. Much like Schultz last year. His Ankle will be tight. He won't be the same player till he gets months of rehab on it to stretch it back out.
No one is over reacting. It is what it is.
It's better to realize it early.
