I think you might have overvalued LA's players here. The Colorado and Washington trades stick out as particularly unbalanced.

If they want to start a rebuild they will need to move Kopitar and Doughty to get those type of returns. And probably have to retain on their salaries as well.

Those are all really lopsided in Kings favor and have no chance of being accepted by other team.

Get younger, get draft picks, don't follow rules and overvalue your players

Do LA fans actually believe that a 34 year old Jeff Carter with 2 more years of term at 5.3 million is worth anything at all? Pretty sure you'd be begging teams to take him, moving him will cost you unless you retain half his salary and even at that with 2 more years of term its risky.

If you want a 1st for 35yo $5.3Mx2+ Carter, you are retaining 50% and possibly adding more.

You're joking with that Montreal trade right?

Kings are going to look close to this in 2 years:
    Lafreniere/Kaliyev Kopitar Brown
    Carter Turcotte Vilardi
    Kempe Anderson-Dolan Grundstrom
    Clifford Lizotte/Amadio Wagner

    Bjornfot Doughty
    (Open) Walker
    Clague Martinez

    Petersen
    Quick/Campbell

Kings won't get much for Carter and might as well keep him to help guide the younger players with Brown, Kopi, Dewy, and Martinez.
I don't think Kings will get much for Martinez either and since he is a fan favorite, might as well keep him too.
Kovi and Toffoli will go. If players like Kaliyev, Turcotte, Vilardi, JAD, and Clague pan out the way we all think they will
then this is going to be a very short 'RELOAD' and at that point it would make more sense to go for roster players like
Krug, Petro, Sergachev, ect to fill that top 4 dman spot that we currently don't have any prospects expected to go there anytime soon.
I feel like Clague will take a long time to develop into a top 4 defenseman. He still as a lot of work ahead of him defensively.
Kings won't be trading away their top 100 picks for the next 5 years and will continue to get good prospects that way.

Not an LA fan lol I am just doing this using stats and analytics and the eye test in the few games I've seen him play this year. I don't think these trades will happen but I think its the direction this organization needs to go.

I dont think Doughty is very movable just because he has alot of term and if I am the kings there is no chance I am retaining salary with that term. Kopitar would be a good option. Looking back the COL trade was bad for sure but the Caps one makes sense IMO, maybe they give up to much but I think it is really good for them.

I don't think Washington would want either one of those players to be honest. Plus it puts them heavily over the cap even with the retention. Martinez is a bottom-4 D for them if not 3rd pairing and kovalchuk is probably a 4th liner. No value.

If I'm the Kings I take the opposite approach. Send me your salary and pay me to do so. Bottom out and then try to compete in 2-4 years when you have lost those salary commitments. I don't think there's an accelerated rebuild here due to the bad contracts. If you look at teams who have made quick turnarounds (Toronto, Colorado, even Carolina) they haven't had awful contracts they have to move out from under.
