Personally I believe once he's fully developed in 1-3 years he'll be a regular 30 goal scorer but I'd love to hear your guys thoughts about him.

He’s so overrated by Habs fans, he’s got great goal scoring ability, I see a streaky goal scorer in him that can play fringe 1st line minutes. 25-30 goals is a reasonable ask for him.

On one side of the proverbial coin you have a very undersized guy that will get manhandled in the nhl. On the other side of the coin, you cannot deny the kid can shoot the puck. Going to be really interesting to see if he can further elevate his game to the pros or if his size will prevent him from being effective in the nhl.

I know you are going to think I’m biased just because I’m a habs fan, but I’m sticking with my opinion of him from before the draft, and if you don’t believe me I don’t care.

I see a similar player to DeBrincat, so someone that will definitely score 40 goals, and should be a 50 goal scorer. He doesn’t have anything else that REALLY sticks out, but his shot is elite. And if you complain about my bias, again this is just my honest opinion, and I would have the same opinion of him if he was drafted by someone else.

There's zero questioning that he can score goals, and he has the shot and IQ to score a lot of them. That skillset alone makes him a very valuable prospect.

The only "red flag" I see with him isn't even his size. It's that he doesn't drive play a ton, so in order to get a really productive player out of him, he needs to be on a line with someone who can drive play, control possession and make those passes to the soft areas of the ice. Given the playmakers Montreal has on the up-and-up (Suzuki, Poehling, Kotkaniemi, etc.), I don't think that will be an issue. I can easily see him and Suzuki forming an incredibly dangerous tandem.

If scouts thought he was gonna be the next DeBrincat he'd have been drafted top 10 for sure.

Watch him score 5G in his first 5 games in Laval. MTL has zero offensive depth. He's facing other teams' top defensive matchups. Players don't go from 12 points in 20 playoff games to 1 point in 10 October games (far worse defense) b/c of talent, or lack thereof. I attribute CC's lack of production to the following factors: Terrible team play, terrible PP, lack of confidence, much tougher matchups, and finally, he's snakebitten: zero goals on 22 SOG.

There's no Tatar-Danault-Gallagher this year to take on the hard competition. You've got Caufield having to play defense first against other teams top players. That's not his game.
