Mark Stone was traded for Brannstrom (#15 overall), Oscar Lindberg ( 27 yr old Fringe NHLer) and a second rounder with a deal in place to sign him. Pool, a 1st and a 2nd seems like an overpay for a rental.

Brannstrom is a very high-quality defensive prospect though, I don't think that Puljujarvi has that value. The added second rounder may be an overpayment and I could see him going for Puljujarvi and a 1st only, however, i wouldn't be surprised if there was an added 2nd although maybe on the condition he resigns.

Puljujarvi has less value than Brannstrom, but I'm not sold on Brannstrom as a "very high quality prospect". He's never going to be able to handle NHL forwards physically and his positional play isn't great, limiting his upside to that of someone like Gostisbehere - a 3rd pairing PP quarterback.

When has any team given more than a first rounder and a high ceiling prospect for a rental? I realize there is debate on Pool's ceiling; but don't forget he was a highly touted #4 overall after being selected the MVP of the World Juniors.
