2020 Team Canada World Juniors Final Roster Prediction

Description
Now that that the invites have gone out. Let's predict the team including loaned players.

Canada usually goes with 22 players, but considering this tournament is actually in Europe I won't be shocked if they take a 23rd guy in case of injury there would no longer be a bunch of close-by Canadians able to jump in. Wouldn't be shocked if they use that spot to bring an extra goalie in Joel Hofer or a 14th forward in Aidan Dudas.

Players included as IR are for in the event the loaned players are not loaned to Canada.

Nick is too old and Ryan didn't even get an invite to camp. Not good enough this year, plus he's battling an eye injury I believe still anyways.

I wouldn’t mind if one of NYI defenseman suffered an injury so dobson can get more playing time and didn’t have to go to WJC. His underlying numbers are already really good (although it’s a small sample size).

But if no one is injured, I’d rather see Dobson play a big role for team canada instead of just practicing with NYI. I think Lou will loan him out.

Hofer will likely make the team. He’s been outstanding for Portland this year.

Possibly. I think Rodrigue is the guaranteed goalie, but Hockey Canada is really high on Jones plus he won't be eligible for this tournament next year so I won't be shocked if he's given a chance for that reason.

Byfield won't be a scratch on this team. He'll be a key player.

13th Forward isn't a scratch. All 20 skaters play in IIHF, such as how Lafreniere was the 13th Forward last year

Byfield will be top-6. Maybe even 1C.

So far I'm pretty happy with my assumptions after the first cuts. Only one player I thought for sure would be on the team got cut in Thomas Harley. I thought he'd be guaranteed.

Hunter Jones I thought would get the backup role due to his Hockey Canada history, draft status, and the fact he won't be eligible for next year's world juniors.

With Jakob Pelletier being injured, I called Aidan Dudas being on the roster.

I'm not thinking Dach will be loaned, so I have to assume Dawson Mercer will be cut.

I do think Noah Dobson will be loaned, at which point Jamie Drysdale likely being the defenseman that gets cut.
