At a steep cost

Created by: BeterChiarelli

Description
Just go full send and win a goddamn cup this spring. The path will never be clearer, and recent draft success can afford this team a season to burn draft assets and really go for it this year.

I know acquiring Hall is probably a non-starter for a lot of people, but it's hard to argue that he isn't the exact kind of forward Edmonton could use right now.

Some picks can be salvaged over the summer; send Larsson out for a 2021 2nd Rounder and a B-prospect, and Benning can fetch a small return.

Conditions on Neal-Lucic swap. As per the details published on CapFriendly: "Pick is transferred if James Neal scores 21 goals and Milan Lucic scores 10 or fewer goals than Neal in the 2019-20 season."

Seems like there's enough cap left over to keep Russell. Why are you trading him for a much worse defenceman?

I traded a 7th defender for a 7th defender and got a pick out of it.

I also want no bonus overages going into next season.

Sbisa has been playing well for the Jets, for all the negative stuff I heard about him I haven't seen anything wrong with his play yet, wouldn't trade him for a dman who makes 4 times the amount he does.

As per your apparent trend tonight, you're offering nothing of any intellectual consequence or substance. Re-acquiring Hall was always going to cost more than what Edmonton traded him for.

I mean if the Devils want Larsson back and will do Hall one-for-one, I'm all game, but otherwise go soak your head for a minute.

Sbisa is a depth defender. With Kulikov out for a month+ and the Jets starting to resemble a team that could make the postseason, your assertion that they wouldn't upgrade Sbisa to Russell is silly. Even if Russell isn't an excellent bottom pair option, he's still miles ahead of Luca. If the Jets wanted, I'd retain up to $1.5M. Might end up asking for a 4th Round Pick instead, but they'd probably do it.

If this team wins the cup, then there's nothing to regret. If this team wins the cup and remains in steady contention over the next 5+ years, I've won the day. Until you can explain what's regrettable about any of this, I can't take your position seriously.

So instead of looking at this scenario you want to come at me at personal level because of what I think? Good job posting something valuable about this ACGM.

And for the record I never said trade Larsson back for Hall.

Eh...alot if's in all of that.
That's also giving up alot for Hall. I'm on side with @Trickster and @MisstheWhalers , Oilers will likely regret such a move.

I'm not asserting that they wouldn't, I'm asserting that I wouldn't and Russell isn't much better then Sbisa if he even is and the Jets certainly don't need any extra cap hit for next season, gotta resign Roslovic who's looking like he's gonna be getting a decent raise, would be silly to add an expensive 3rd pairing guy when they don't need to. The Jets are pretty good at getting good mileage out of depth dmen, that Dahlstrom guy is playing fairly well too and maybe with Kulikov out Niku will finally get recalled from the Moose. I like Russell but seriously the Jets are doing fine with their waiver wire claims... Lol

Cause its easy to say if they win the cup it's worth it but there's no guarantees and Edmonton is doing well, just enjoy the ride and try to add a couple low cost pieces that'll help but won't break the prospect/asset bank to acquire. You're trading three good assets for Kreider who's on pace for 40 points and will never sign in Edmonton and that's an awful lot for injury prone Hall and one hell of a big contract for a 29 year old winger but hey if that's what you want to do knock yourself out.
