Description

Rags move out Staal to a team where he'd be playing big role helping our Big Hard Hitting rookie Fleury. In MTL depending on what pair is playing the best Weber or Petry could end up with Bottom minutes while Fleury takes top spot . (as seen in SJS when he got a Career high 10 hits that game plastering Karlsson and Burns both!)

Fleury cant keep carrying Reilly /Kulak and learning their bad habits .

Staal has a lot of negatives from his decline offensively to his cap but the one area he's remained dominate is Shotblocking an area MTL hasnt taken seriously since 2014 when we had 2 top 10 Shot blockers on our LD and a ECF appearance because of it .

Staal gives us the chance to take on a player who could use a fresh start to draw interest from parties for when he goes UFA in 2 years. His caps gone just when we need it so why not ask NYR for a young Defensman in College to take on his cap hit and give Staal who has a full NMC a team where he could play in that same big market he has his whole career . (MTL would love Staal because our D core would tighten up with him there and Price would play better with a competent stay at home D)

there's a 100 reasons not to
there is my reason in favor of it .

To Sum up my expectations for Jankowski i'm nick naming him 'Garbage Goal' Jankowski lol. All jokes aside he's coming in like Danault and Armia before him getting a 4th line wing spot and a chance to step up when injuries happen ... nothing more

Hudon's just a warm body being sent in the deal like MTL/WPG trade that brought us Armia . We sent a player set to retire from Pro Hockey in Simon Bourque so Hudon works

Why would you waive Kulak?

I like that Miller trade, although Staal wouldn't play. He'd be a healthy scratch.

no from rangers.... hes our top defensive prospect other than Lundkvist and Fox. However, I am sure the rangers would be willing to part with Hajek, Crawley, Day, Keane. Heck have you thought about acquiring Skjei?

this is pretty laughable. Adam McQuaid alone got a 4th and 7th and Kampfer for a ~3mil cap hit with no retention. Staal has a 5.7 cap hit. Hudon already has cleared waivers, he will again, he doesn't have any value tbh (which is better than Staal who has negative value but doesn't apply here). The cost of taking Staal's cap hit (compared to McQuaid) is a 3rd. So really the proper trade is Staal + 3rd for Hudon. If Let's say the Ranger retain half, we'd actually drop the draft pick entirely...

ever D prospect cant be the most important D prospect

i'll take any top 4 D prospect under 25 dont care which
name who you think is more expendable then Miller who's NCAA status allows him to go UFA if he wants when he turns Pro.(only reason i chose him over a Lindgren or Lundkvist or Hajek )

CONTEXT Always Matters
Market is dictated by Supply and Demand today
Not on what happened last year in a different situation that doesnt apply .

if we did things like you're suggesting the meat i put on my shelves would be $3 a Kg cheaper but that's not how Economics work in any line of business .

Back to the point though the cap allows NYR to acquire a player actually worth 5.7m dollars
MTL doesnt need or care about cap space so retaining defeats the point .
if you're hung up on which D it is wait 10 minutes i'll likely change it to Hajek once someone else 2nd's the motion
