Deal for Turris

Created by: oilnate
Team: 2019-20 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 4, 2019
Published: Dec. 4, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
So I think Turris still has something to offer, and assuming the issue in Nashville isn't a result of mental health or injury, I'd be alright with this trade. Oilers get a winger who can contribute and a 3c, NSH builds their prospect pool and help solidifies their backend, NSH retains but that's why the Oilers are giving up so much. Trade assumes happening in January with NSH sitting outside a playoff spot. forgot to add gagner or Manning for cap space reasons

I think you don't get enough.

Add a 2020 2nd rounder on NSH's side and Holland should say yes

Nashville says yes if this lands them Hall like rumoured, but if it doesn't they weakened themselves at C big time IMO.
I think Western conference teams should be wary of dealing for Turris as it helps the Preds make bigger moves and avoid consequences of a a bad contract

Like i've stated numerous times, Pool-Party hasn't proven a thing, Benning is a bottom pairing RHD and Edmontons 2020 1st is #28 overall right now, Where's the incentive by Poile to deal Granlund and retain 50% on Turris for this mess. I don't see it personally.

Agreed. 5 years of retaining $3 mil/year is wayyyyy too much for a Nashville team that is typically a cap-team.

Could see it if they retained on Granlund for the year, given that his contract is up at the end of the year, but taking their 3C and 4C weakens them way too much.

I like the idea behind this trade, especially if it's for Nashville to go after Hall, so maybe this works a bit better:

Nashville:
Granlund (50% retained)
Turris
3rd

Edmonton:
1st
Poolparty
Benning

Turris can still be productive if he's given ice time, especially PP time.

Edit: Leaves Nashville with Johansen, Bonino and Duchene down the middle, plus potentially Hall, with the space to re-sign him.

Agreed this makes far more sense then the other, Just retain for the year on Granlund. Holland likes his bad contracts and if he wants Turris will probably need to eat that $6 million for another 4 years or so after this.

Hall gonna get Panarin money. Retaining 3M on Turris would make it impossible to sign Hall and ice a full team without further trading out cap. The base caphit if Hall extended for 11M + 3M retention would put Nashville at 78.2M caphit already dedicated next season to only 15 players. Fill those spots with league minimum 700K and that'd be 82.4M for a 21 man roster but most players that have earned the callup make more then that.

Value is probably good enough to get both of them easily but I feel Edm should use those assets on different players. That offer should pry Hall from the Devils (without an extension in place). Add another conditional 1st maybe if he resigns type thing.

If Stone brought back Brannstrom, Lindberg and a 2nd. Poolparty, a 1st and Benning should land Hall.

i like the idea of yamamoto, a second and jones or benning for palmeri and mcleod, not sure it's a good idea to bring hall back
