Kreider>kapanen (but kapanen does have term)
Deangelo will fetch a first this year most likely as long as he keeps up his pace
Georgiev gets a second and a 3rd
No need for the other garbage

Leafs fans need to just understand that they have their core, prospects, and everything else like petan hutchinson, their 1,000 late round picks, guys like hollowell, Marincin, etc are TRASH

I mean we'll make this easier:

Georgiev = Kapanen or 2 2nds (your call)
Kreider = 1st + SDA or Robertson (Your call)
Deangelo = Nylander

So yes Georgiev + Kreider + Deangelo for Nylander + 2021 1st + SDA + 2020 2nd + 2021 2nd.

I don't think you want to do that. But that's the price.

NYR does not do that. I can see Bracco+ for Georgiev or Johnsson+Marincin for Georgiev+Fast or smth like that. Not this big of a deal..

Anyway, we can go into details if you like:

Here's Deangelo's ranks among dmen over the past 2 seasons:

Screen-Shot-2019-12-04-at-11-55-15-AM

How much do any of these guys cost in a trade? Now realize his age and that he's cost controlled. What are the comparables for trades here? Seth Jones? Dougie Hamilton?

For Georgie: The 2 major metrics for evaluating goaltenders properly are dFSV% and GSAx. Over the last 3 seasons, among all goaltenders Georgiev ranks in the top 15 in both.

That's a good foundation because it gives us something to measure against with a nice large sample size. Over the last 10 years there have been 3 goalies to put up those numbers (well 4 if we count Martin Jones but he was traded after 2 NHL seasons) and have been traded. They are:

Philip Grubauer: Traded at age 26 with Brooks Orpik (equivalent of a 1st or 2nd rounder depending on your valuation - reference: Marleau cost a 1st and the cap hit difference was less than a mil) for a 2nd.
Cory Schneider: Traded at age 27 for 12th Overall Pick.
Frederick Anderson: Traded at age 26 for a 1st and 2nd Round pick.
Martin Jones: Traded at age 25 for a 1st round pick and Sean Kuraly.

Now Georgiev is younger (23) meaning his rights with the team are held for longer. That would inherently make him more valuable. The lowest any comparable players were dealt for is ~2 2nd rounders (and even that might be a low estimate). Really Georgiev's value is around a 1st heh.

Again, just using the stats here and the comparables, these aren't opinions.

As far as Kreider goes, he's getting a little less than Hall:

TDA: his trade value is not big. He has off-ice "issues" if you can call it that way.. he wouldve gotten a much bigger deal if he was valued as strongly as his analytics might suggest. Jones? Hamilton? No.. Im not saying he is bad (he is very good and I think he can fetch a 2nd and prospect), but you suggested Nylander who is one of the best young players out there. He is much more valuable. Just no. Also.. Nylander would be pricey for Rangers. Like VERY pricey.. they are not trading him, simply put.

Georgiev: he is great (you might overvaluate him a little), but I think he can fetch a Johnsson-like player and good pick with Fast included. Georgievs issue is that they clearly are trading him at some point. Its matter of getting right offer in terms of what team like Rangers might like in a player (Johnsson keeps getting in my mind with perfect fit on Rangers) for future (getting term with player).

Kreider: Kreider is great piece. thats only one of those values you presented I really like (1st and SDA, but slight retention is needed) smile

I like that you provided important stats as not many people do in these conversations.. I do really like that!

I just presented the stats and comparables. We can yell at spreadsheets all day if you like haha. But facts are facts.

If you'd like a nice comparable for age/cost/value for Deangelo. Montour was traded for a 1st + top 100 prospect last year after putting up .76 pts/60 over the 2 seasons before the deal at roughly the same age as Deangelo. Deangelo is putting up 1.27 points/60 over that same span. His value is thus honestly closer to 1st + Top 50 prospect (the only one that would really qualify here is Sandin unfortunately). Unfortunately that's just how good he is...oh and the off-ice stuff hasn't been a thing in like 4 years...he's well past that and it won't affect his value.

I don't think Rangers have to deal Georgiev, they can just as easily trade Hank (who's playing like a top 5 goalie this year) haha. My guess is that they package him with one of Staal or Smith in a Grubauer-esque deal to clear some cap.

For that retention we might have to move up from SDA to Robertson...
