NYI prospect swap

Created by: truculence67
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 4, 2019
Published: Dec. 4, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Bellows has struggled in Bridgeport and the Islanders seem to stink at developing first round picks (Reinhart, dal colle, ho-sang). I could see him as a late-bloomer with the upside of a guy like josh Anderson who adds some nice size to the leafs. At worst he’s a fourth-line guy.

I don’t see where bracco fits on the leafs meanwhile. No room for him on the top 6 and he plays a one dimensional game, but might have higher offensive ceiling than bracco. Also pretty sure he’s a local boy.

I like the idea of this trade at this point in the season so that bellows has time to turn things around with the Marlies and so that the leafs can get a sense of when/if he’ll be nhl ready next season

Unfortunate that there's no room for Petan...

Seeing the backup problem, I would send Hutchinson down and call up a goalie who is a couple thousand dollars cheaper for a teeny amount of room

I don’t think this is a bad trade, but bracco will never make it in trotz system with his one dimensional play. He’ll be another Ho-sang without the off ice issues

Bellows is following up a 19 point season with 6 points in 22 games. He is looking like a bust. I wouldn’t make this trade but for the fact that the Leafs have been excellent at developing prospects and could help him rejuvenate his game

Bracco for Bellows is not fair. Bracco is better, but Bellows might fit better on Leafs with his style of play. And he can be developed properly.. Id do Bracco for Bellows and smth.

That’s a fair point. I just see him having a greater opportunity to play at all with the islanders than in the leafs organization which is loaded with skill on the wings

I'd rather just keep Bellows and try to move him in a package for a veteran.

I concur. Bracco is ahead of Bellows even accounting for age, so there'd have to be an add. Another reason to like the basis of the trade is the Leafs are weak on the left side.
