Trading Reilly

Created by: noobmaster69
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 4, 2019
Published: Dec. 4, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trading Reilly is not a popular decision among leaf fans, due to his seniority with the club, and his play. A case can be made that with Sandin and Demott, LD is one of TO strongest positions currently. Hardly ever do you see a ACGM involving a Rielly trade (because most of us love him). Setting your love for him aside as a player does it make sense to move a player from your strongest position, to drastically improve your weakest.

Feel free to include your trade for Reilly in comments.
Trades
1.
TOR
NSH
  1. Ceci, Cody
Additional Details:
would have to be moved somewhere if not part of the trade for cap reason
2.
NSH
  1. Rielly, Morgan
Additional Details:
Not saying this is the trade to happen, just pretty fair 1 for 1. Ellis is locked up but Rielly is younger with 3 more years.

I've been saying this for a long time. They should have looked at doing this in the offseason when he came off 20 goals and 60 points. He will never replicate his goal totals and it was time to sell high. I'm 100% here for a rielly for parayko trade so you can run
Muzzin-barrie
Dermott-parayko
Sandin-holl.
Pure filth on defense

Leafs strongest position is still center. You should trade Matthews. See how that makes no sense?

The idea of trading your depth at one position for depth at a weakness usually means trading depth you can live without. Not prime players.....

I actually agree with you about in the off-season, i said the same thing about Kadri the year prior when he came off 30g again.

I feel we could live without Rielly, can't without AM or JT

That depends, if you are trading matthews for McDavid (not that that's a fair trade) then trading your depth at one position isnt a bad idea. I dont like digging holes to fill other holes but the leafs have a pile of dirt that they should use. That excess pile of dirt is morgan rielly. They already have muzzin, dermott and sandin who can all play they left side. If they could get Ellis or parayko they would have one of the better right sides in the league and still have a very strong left side.

capfriendly always great when the maple leafs get buttblasted the night before.

trading rielly isn't a great idea, moreso because it would disrupt the dressing room. i think losing guys like kadri and marleau had a negative effect on the team's mentality, and moving rielly would result in more of the same of what's currently on the ice.

besides, they won't get value for him in-season.

They're both the same position though..... But anyway if you move someone, move the depth LHD dman. IMO make a decision on on either Dermott or Muzzin. One of those guys has to be the top 4 LHD and the other is too good to be the bottom pairing. That's your depth. None of those guys can do what Reilly can do though.

Moving Reilly IMO is not a viable option IMO. Just like trading Matthews isn't.

I disagree. I think you realize how much you miss Reilly the minute he's gone.
