Zadarov and Graves don't really fit into the lineup. You could make an argument that you could dangle johnson and cole out in trades to play Z and G, but I was lazy. Basically just adds to the point of this, which is that Colorado has an embarrassment of riches.
As to re-sign Landy, Makar, Timmins, Grub I would rather have high end elite talent at the top and then cut near the bottom and fill from within, which colorado should be able to do.
Losing Calvert shouldn't hurt anyones feelings.
Landeskogs re-up shouldn't be a HUGE increase maybe a couple million. Bridge Makar with the Proverov deal as a precident. Timmins has not had an NHL sniff yet and his next contract won't break the bank. Grubbiers next contract will be around 6 when the time comes.
When all said and done it might be time to part with older guys on the opposite end of the aging curve like Cole 4.25 and Johnson 6, as well as some middle of the pack guys making ~3.
Adding elite talent is never a dumb idea when it presents itself, worrying about your bottom their players is silly.
Landy 7.5 Mak 6.3 Rant 9.25
Hall 9 Kadri 4.5 Burakovsky 4.25
Donskoi 3.9 Jost 3.3 Compher 3.5
Kamenev 1.5 Newhook 0.925 Replacement forward .750
Byram .925 Johnson 6
Girard 5 Makar 6
Rosen 1.5 Timmins 2
Grubbier 6
Replacement Goalie .925
That totals up to be 83.025 million... Which will likely fit in the cap bubble as soon as next year.
and the possibility is still there to move players like Johnson and Donskoi
