Reinke is 23 and has no clear shot to the Blues roster. At his ceiling he’s Matt Benning. EE is also younger and a strong bottom-6 player.

I was looking at from Minnesota side.
Maybe it doesn't work for Rangers but tbh I dont have good sense of the GM there is doing.

First of all, Reinke's ceiling is definitely higher than Benning. He's better moving the puck and much better offensively. And even if he has no clear path right now, he's a good trade chip with all the teams sorely needing RDs.

As for JEE: 1) the last thing we need is centers & 2) he sucks on the faceoff dot. He's young, yes, and I suppose he could improve. I personally would not balk if this trade was made, but I'm trying to think like Army here. If Bozak was dealt in the summer, then sure maybe Army would grab at this. As is, I doubt he'll want more traffic blocking Thomas from moving permanently to center.

Btw, they're the same age.

I’d say the chances of Reinke becoming a better nhl player than EE are very low

Eriksson Ek has WAY more potential especially when Tyler Tucker and Scott Perunovich come up

Perhaps, though I think you underestimate Reinke's talents. However, he is also paid half as much and at a position with much scarcer quality.

Mmm perhaps, but the guy has already played 173 NHL games and prorates as an 8-goal per season scorer so far. And the terrible faceoffs annoy me, especially for a checking line type as a big part of our system involves control of the puck.

watch EK, greenway, and kunin dominate in the offensive zone and your opinion will change. Its the little things

Heh, then why are you wanting to trade him? grin

I've seen JEE play numerous times. I like his strong skating and board work. But I can't say he's better in those departments than the guys we already have, who are also better finishing offensive plays and much better at faceoffs, which is something I always harp on. Faceoffs are very important to the way we want to play.

Like I said, I wouldn't gripe all that much if we made this deal, but I also wouldn't chase it. More to the point, I doubt Army would do it.

I disagree. I think Reinke has got more in him, especially offensively. He looked good in all the preseason games and has looked more than solid in the AHL. Erikson Ek is just more of what we have now. No need for him. Also, Eriksson Ek is only 1 year younger than Reinke. Now if Kunin was the target id say let's get him.

we finally agree on something. rangers shouldn't and aren't looking to trade young players for older players.
