Swap out McMichael for Sutter and get it done.

A) You're not getting McMichael
B) Not sure Hall fits with this team's chemistry

although....he would definitely bolster the scoring and 2nd PP.

I don't think that this is the kind of deal that MacLellan makes at the deadline anymore. Look for a more bargain-bin-value pick-up instead of a pure rental like Hall.

Seems wise. No need to go all-in and mess up the team's future. But if Holtby really thinks he can get 10M anywhere (he can't. All three 10M goalies are fighting for one playoff spot once Toronto gets going. Nobody is writing that contract next summer.) then the team could give Backstrom some term to reduce cap hit and maybe extend Hall at 9 or 10M. Of course, if he thinks he's worth more than that, don't need.

It seems like Galchenyuk, Turris, Pageau, and Tatar could all be moved this year for much less than the above. Secondary scoring and a second power play unit are nice to have, but in the Caps' case, a second power play might just be a matter of opponents taking enough penalties for Kuznetsov, Oshie and Backstrom to get tired.... With Wilson, Vrana, and Orlov on the second unit, there's no lack of talent keeping the team from producing.
