Not sure what the enticement is for Anaheim to take Ceci's contract, and retain what equals out to $2.5 mil over the two years left on Gudbranson's deal? They essentially pay $6 mil for 4 months of Ceci. That's not even close to worth it for a bubble team.

Erik Gudbranson has done everything we asked and expected of him, and he'll be a useful RD for us next season, too, so no thanks for a UFA of questionable ability and a fourth-round pick two drafts from now for him.

I would hate to get rid of some good youth...Kapanen, Moore, Engvall and and second, and acquire a short term rental in Kreider. Certainly the Leafs shouldn't be "buyers" this season.

Watched Gudbranson 3 years ago and said to myself that this guy is a fossil on the ice and can not play defence in todays NHL. Do not think Leafs would have any interest in him.

"Bubble team"? "Bubble team"? Thank you for the flattery, sir, but unless Josh Manson comes back from his injury in his 2017-2018 form, or Bob Murray hoodwinks someone, we ain't makin' the playoffs this year.

(I'm a Ducks fan)...Meant bubble team as in "will finish 10th-11th in the conference, and miss the playoffs by 4-8 pts.

Gudbranson is plus 6 on a pitiable defense and prevents other teams from taking liberties with our players. Don't I keep hearing Toronto guys complaining about lack of toughness?

Guddy isn't worth 4 million a year. But to say he can't stick on a 3rd pairing somewhere is nonsense.
I think Guddy is a decent player. He needs a puck mover to work with him. That part is what it is. But he'll also keep that guy clean because he knows where his bread and butter is.
He's a solid team guy who does a job most people aren't grateful for.

As I said in another post in this chain, Gudbranson has done everything we've asked and expected of him. He's played and teamed well with Cam Fowler on the number two pair and also with Brendan Guhle or Jacob Larsson on the number three pair. I think that we'll keep him around for next season, too.
