If he trades Byram for Hall, Sakic should be fired. They need Byram more than they need Hall (even with extension).

Really? With Timmins, Makar and Girard around they wont have the cap to keep them all a few years down the road.

They would be able to.. remember.. cap will raise immensely. And also it would be cheaper than re-signing Hall.

Cap is expected to rise a lot with Seattle and the new tv deal. Also, Girard is on a pretty good contract.

I wouldn't trade Byram, especially not for a rental. A potential first pairing guy who has 3 years left on his ELC. Can't afford to trade those kind of players when you're trying to win the SC. You need good ELC players. If you trade Byram, it should be for a great forward on a good long term contract

You consider adding a 2021 4th t obe "sweetening the pot"?

The Avs aren't trading Byram and I'm not sure why you'd want them to.

In my opinion, Sakic has too much patience and foresight to make this trade. He was able to trade Barrie comfortable because he had Makar AND Byram coming. He knows that his club will need guys on ELCs to contribute if they’re going to contend, and the next 3 years of Byram could be crucial to their future success. Plus, I don’t see Sakic making a trade for a pending UFA without some sort of protection - likely a conditional first round pick in addition to a couple other decent pieces (Bowers, Kaut, Jost, maybe Timmins).

Yes you don’t trade one of the top d prospects in the nhl for. Player you don’t need in hall

If the can afford a hall extension they can afford them all. Girard is already locked in for 7 years. Makar will get money halll would have been extended with and Timmins is still on his elc

I don’t want to trade Byram, it’s just the asking price from NJ.
