It pains me to destroy my Tyler Johnson poster but he doesn't have a role in this team anymore. He just seems like he is in Limbo maybe a change in sceenory could help. His deal is so long and I understand cap percentage will change so that money will look like a joke in a couple years. However I need a shake up in this roster. The core is set Hedman McDonagh Stamkos Kuch point vasi (cirelli will be joining them soon if he keeps on improving as a valuable member of this team) this team will have turn over this offseason, I'd rather just start it now instead of just waiting and watching this squad go .500. The Filppula trade adds cap control I am aware young guy for old guy on paper means the team that got the young guy wins however if Joseph just stays and doesn't work and does get paid less, it's still a guy that doesn't work out well on this roster so having him doesn't mean much I'd rather take a loss on paper to win on the ice, when Filppula was used properly he can be a great asset and it's worth a risk considering his cap is minimal.

And with namestnikov he is going for his Ufa contract year so I'd bet he is hungry to score and add to his value.

Just give me one last deep playoff run! Get the freaking popcorn maker!!!

Also vasi does need to play better maybe give Curtis an extra start. (I don't hate our defense I just don't think it's playing up to what they should be capable of) See if that helps.

I like the idea of bringing Filppula and Vladdy back. Joseph has to be traded, no question about it. He is simply terrible.

I would just set different lines.

Palat-Point-Kucherov
Killorn-Cirelli-Stamkos
Namestnikov-Filppula-Johnson
Maroon-Paquette-Gourde

And I prefer Schenn/Rutta over Coburn. Coburn is an old pylon with a reaction time of my dead grandma.

I don't know about this season anymore, i think it's just not worth to bring in medicore players, we need i think Toffoli and Kreider and need to trade any forward who is not willing to defend.
Scoring goals is not the priority anymore. Also we can't start Schenn anymore in any meaningful game. He just give a free goal today vs Islanders. Yes u could say unlucky bounce, but no it's just not strong enough puck handling skillz = AHL level...

I would bring back Namstnikov for a 4th round, but not for a 3rd... He would help for sure, he can defend much better than lot of other players.

I think the recipe:
Either just go for high draft pick this year, or go allin and bring in 2-3 top tier players. IDK Hamonic/Toffoli/Kredier trio... or somthing like that with cheaper caphit if we don't have the capspace.

Currently: we are still top16 team in the NHL

We need to go into top7 before playoffs start... Bad teams never win the cup... St. Louis was amazing last year from january. Washington grinded 10 years for that victory... Pittsburgh had Crosby/Malkin + always winning mentality. Chicago, LA.. etc. u guys remember LA in the playoffs... we are just can't play like that... and that's the winning recipe.
All those teams could defend. We just can't... Picking in top 10 would mean we would have 2 amazing prospects for future years... Let's say Vancouver Canucks

make the playoffs with some miracle. Like 16th place = 2 top20 picks for 2020 draft = gold for future. We can get another high draft pick for Killorn/Gourde/Johnson...
Right now with this roster, we are just not good enough... Look at Columbus series last year... it's the same style we lost today. Go forward 60 minutes, attack without scoring goals and allow 4+ goals... we don't have discipline... this group is just not good enough... Yes we are 1st in goals scoring , but that's not enough for anything, when you're outside top20 goals allowed...

Also i'm starting to think Vasi 9.5 contract = really bad... i originally thought it's bad for only 3 years 2020-2023... but now i think it can be bad for 5 years(2020-2025)... and that would be really bad for the whole team...(Price 2.0). But if we bring in next 2 years some amazing defensive forwards, maybe we can turn it around... can't wait for BriseBois next trade...

I hope we win tomorrow vs Florida Panthers

. If not, oh boy... there is some crazy good opponents coming up...
