The Zaitsev situation

Created by: Green4D4
Team: 2019-20 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 6, 2019
Published: Dec. 6, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If allegations are true, he will most likely be suspended by the league and/or have is contract terminated. Not exactly the same situation as Slava Voynov but pretty close...

There was hope for some degree of anonymity in Ottawa...

What's happened?

That personal leave to return to Russia was apparently to steal his kids from his ex-wife to avoid paying child support...

It doesn't look good.

Am I a bad person if all I think of immediately is how much worse that Cody Ceci trade looks now?

here is the video (and my twitter): https://twitter.com/SammyT_51/status/1202939628032053253

this is ugly. And would likely result in massive consequences..

Interesting to see if the sens and NHL sweep this under the rug. and more importantly, if and how long it takes the North American media to report on it. Obviously all the facts have to be collected, but the video semi speaks for itself.

Connor Brown and Micheal Carcone. That is all.

In reality, it was time for Ceci to go. But, to be honest, I'd rather be angry at Ceci for being bad at hockey then for garbage that happens off the ice... then again Ceci did accidentally light someone on fire...

They were quick to act on the Slava Voynov case so it will probably be before he plays in Philly tonight(?).

Nope.. and it was said before season that if Leafs did not trade him, his contract would be terminated by Leafs and he wouldve gone to russia. So glad they traded his ass out of my team.

Didn't know about his off-ice situation so I was all for it. All of this coming to light makes me sad that Ceci is gone... But it is what it is.

I'm glad you added in the fire part cause that story was surprisingly kept quiet. Could have just been because at the time the Sens were literally a tire fire so no one paid it any attention

Yeah, I don't know if the lawsuit from the woman is still on the table. There were a few articles in Ottawa about it when it happened but it was drown out by the amount of sheer garbage news that was coming out about the Senators organization as a whole during that time.

It was Ceci's girlfriend that was responsible, not him. It was on his property though, and I think he (and his girlfriend) will end up paying damages for negligence.

Doesn't look good for Zaitsev. I think the NHL should get the situation understood and properly act on it ASAP: should be a no brainier on zero tolerance for both domestic abuse and kidnapping.

Would be smart for the Senators to distance Zaitsev from the team.

Thanks for clarifying that. Still an unfortunate situation.
