What's your rationale behind how this improves the Canes? Forgetting value equivalency for a second.

Tyler Johnson certainly would be a player we’d be interested in, but I don’t see trading Pesce. It just doesn’t make sense. Why do you feel like TBL needs another d man?

Better scoring up front in Johnson and some great young guys that can step into the nhl right away. Coburn also a good playoff physical presence. Giving up Pesce because the bolts need better defensive defensemen.

TB’s D is terrible and lacks a Defensive defensemen to go with Hedman.

I see the where the value may approach being equal, but I don't think we are interested in trading a quarter for five nickles. I think Point would be the direction we would be willing go, but that's obviously a non-starter.

I do think Johnson would be a fit in the Canes system, plus he’s a right shot center option. However I still struggle to see the Canes/Bolts are partners.

The Canes have TVR as an option, but are the Bolts going to send Johnson to the Canes for TVR ++? Doubt it.

Johnson has always been a player I have wished we could acquire with Tampa's cap crunch situation. I see him as a type of player we have long been missing and he always plays well against us. There may have been a deal to be made around Johnson but it never had Pesce going the other way. I always thought an extended Faulk made the most sense, but now we don't have any defensive players whose age and/or contract make sense for this type of transaction. Gardiner may be a good candidate (value wise though he's obviously not a defensive stud,) but I don't see us trading him having just signed him.
