They'll probably just promote him instead.

1st This incident with Crawford is not in the same league as the incident with Peters. The NHL must take the allegation seriously.

2nd It is disappointing that Avery chose to make this public after the previous incident. I am not condoning Crawford’s actions, however I suspicious of Avery’s timing.

My understanding of this incident is about allegedly Crawford physically assaulted Avery. This type of behaviour does occur in all organizations, not just the professional sports, but because professional sports is often in a glass bowl, the incidents become magnified.

3. Before there can be an “revolving door” of complaints, the NHL needs create policy, if not created already, “Violating code of conduct with no tolerance in place.”

If I worked in organization which was unionize, (like the NHL) and I was assaulted by a manager, I would have the recourse to address this behaviour through filing a grievance. If I worked for an organization which didn't have a union, I would have the option of informing the police and pressing charges. This obviously holds true if I was unionized.

With every action is a reaction, I would have the option to address the behaviour, and I would think it would under most circumstances it would be exercised shortly after the incident. If I choose to be silent about it and stew over it for a long period of time, then the seriousness of the incident is diminished perhaps in the eyes of many. If I make the incident public on the heels of a more serious accusation, then it could viewed as opportunistic.

This case with Crawford this should have been addressed immediately after the incident. If the NHL doesn’t have in place an relaxing environment in which the players can address and have solace to acts of abuse with managers, then a policy is necessary.
