Unless Kovalenko is a stud I don't know about its not enough.

I suspect you'd have to include one of Zadorov/Timmins. Given you have Girard/Makar/This year's third over all who's name escapes me you can afford it, if you choose to go that route.

the trade before was hall/vatanen for zadorov/burak/koval and a conditional first but some avs fans weren't a big fan of it.

Avs do not touch their D in Makar/Girard/Byram in any way shape or form.

Timmins could be moved in a deal. Zads would be tough bc they need him for the playoffs and hes not a throw away piece for at team looking to add for a cup run.
Kovalenko would be tough to give up bc hes come on as a solid prospect. Very solid 2 way player yet is now really finding a solid scoring touch in the KHL. I would rather move Kaut over Kovalenko to be honest

With byram off the table i think new jersey would be asking for one of kovalenko, kaut or newhook.

I think you misunderstood me. What I was saying is they could afford to trade Zads/Timmins, as they have Makar/Girardi/Byram, certainly not that they should trade any of those three. But those three give them the depth to use Zads/Timmins as a trade chip. Not that they NEED to or SHOULD, but that they could consider it because of those awesome three young D

(that Girardi pickup from Nashville was a great steal)

I do see Timmins being the piece that moves. 1st Timmins and Kaut is what I think gets the job done. Other than that, then Devils are trying to be greedy and it will burn them. They are on the clock and don't have much leverage in maximizing hall deals (agreeing for him to extend iwht a new team and its been speculated hes going to UFA regardless)

kovalenko probably won't come over to KHL if hes traded, he has 2 more years with his current team, so I think hes a piece that won't be added bc it too risky for the Devils
Kaut I can see, Timmins...Bowers probably but I don't know why Devils would want another C when they have Hughes, Zacha, and Nico already. Newhook is a guy they would target but they aren't getting much more than a pick with him

To be perfectly honest I think Arizona's going to open them anyway, possibly even Nashville, I wouldn't do I Hall trade based on the fact that all these pieces are working perfectly, you don't replace a 22 point shooter for a 21 point shooter who's only going to be on the team for 30 games before he signs somewhere else

yeah I am with you buddy, I don't want a hall trade in the first place. Ive said it before the Devils need Avs to trade for Hall bc of what they have in assets more than the Avs need to trade for Hall. I think they have all the power in any trade talks when it come to Hall and we know Sakic doesnt do anything rushed. IF he doesn't like the value hes moving on to another guy that MacFarland and DTMaboutHart have scouted and targeted

Yeah to bad he didnt come out and just say taylor hall isnt playing well enough right now to give up any of their assets... and like you said shero wants what the avs have, the avs could get by without hall and not even notice

I think a 1st Timmins and Kaut should be a no brainer for NJ. Well all argue on here about the other Avalanche pieces being a part of the deal but come to think of it in reality Colorado probably doesn't give any of their top top pieces up. This way, Col still gets a nice luxury of Hall for the ROS and playoffs without losing one of their best young players/prospects. Sucks to lose Timmins who I think is really good, but the 1st will probably be low. Joe could make this trade and probably sleep easy knowing he did what he could for a nice run this year and still have a future.

That sounds about right. Think first, young player, and prospect

Your suggest 1st, good prospect (Timmins), and another interesting prospect (high potential, hasnt shown much in North America).

Value seems about right.

Do you have any good but not high end 22-26 year olds? That's who I typically think of instead of the Kaut's of the world.
