Yes I am. Because you called Mccann a middle 6 winger, which isn't even his position, and Johnnson a top 6 winger.
Well to start there is the easiest one. McCann is shooting nearly twice his career average. Shooting % is extremely volatile and can change on a dime. It also inflates stats and has little relation to the actual play of a player. To give context on what a good shooting % looks like (and why McCann's is unsustainable), here is one of the best goal scorers of the last decade (stats from
here):
McCann: 17.3% (Career 9.5%)
Johnsson: 9.1% (Career 13%)
Stammer: 10% (Career 16.7%)
Here is the twins RAPM model (3 year sample):
Twins RAPM model (1 year sample):
Here are the microstats for them. These are tracked manually by one person, hence the sample sizes being lower. First one is the 3 year, next is the one year.
So what do these all show? McCann is not good on the PP in as many minutes and Mango is, McCann actually being below average.
The one year RAPM shows McCann is better defensively, but not good at driving play offensively (your claim he drives a line is factually incorrect). The one thing McCann is getting offensively is results (see the above shooting %), more so than Mango and at an extremely high rate in general (nearly 3 standard deviations from average).
Going on career numbers Mango is better at everything other than limiting xGA where McCann is only above average in that category.
The Microstats show things like transition and such. McCann is better at some things, but Mango has been better at nearly everything this year (hence my play > points post) and has generally been better over his career.
McCann is s good 3rd line winger, Johnsson is a good 2nd line winger. I like them both but Toronto would be getting killed in this trade proposed here.
