Rumor Hall to ARZ

Created by: rja
Team: 2019-20 Arizona Coyotes
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 6, 2019
Published: Dec. 6, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I would think Soderstrom and Hayton are both off limits, but Bahl is looking great in Juniors and Garland is a decent role player in the NHL. I think this is a pretty good package for a rental. Shero is asking for a lot from other teams (Ex. Byram from COL), but I think that asking price will come down at some point.

Why not Garland?

He is leading the team in goals and is a solid all-around player who is only going to get better

Right - it's going to cost ARZ to acquire Hall that's why I suspect Garland would be the "NHL" piece in the deal. Maybe NJD will prefer someone else though, I don't know.

Doubt it. Likely going to UFA. No ones gonna give up their best prospect for a pending UFA unless he comes with an extension

This was a prediction with no extension put in place. A first, a third, a former second round dman who is killing it in the O, and the Coyotes' leading goal scorer is a more than good return for Hall as a rental, and is in line with historical returns at the deadline (see Rick Nash to Boston, Evander Kane to SJS (you'll see that this trade yields higher returns than those two)).

In the Stone trade the NHLer in the deal wasn't anything good. Just a roster player to fill in the spot. The real value comes from the pick and prospect

If Bahl were valued at the same level as Brannstrom was then yes I would agree it would not be Garland. Because ARZ should want to hold onto Soderstrom and Hayton, they might have to move someone playing well at the NHL level. I do think that if NJD said Garland or bust I still think ARZ would move him. I'd rather move Garland then Soderstrom or Hayton. This was not about having your cake and eating it too there will be a trade off. But again - NJD might be open to taking Crouse or Fischer (former 1st and 2nd round picks). Who knows?
