Lines when Healthy Assuming no Trades

Created by: Zetsubonokami
Team: 2019-20 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 7, 2019

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Explanations:

Line 1: With how well Guentzel has done with geno and Rust I think you give galch a chance with sid. If he can't get it going with him he wont get it going with anyone. McCann is returned to the top line with Bjugstad healthy down the middle.

Line 2: This line has looked really good in the absence of sid and I think you roll with whats working at least to start.

Line 3: Bjugstad will be the 3rd line center, but who do you put with him? I think Hornqvist and Tanev would fit pretty well here. Both bring the body and can chip in on the offensive side. I wouldn't be surprised if Kahun was here instead of Horny tho.

Line 4: Blueger gets the 4C spot. Kahun has played extremely well and gets the 4th line left wing slot. Finally we have ZAR on the right. As much as I would like it to be Lafferty I don't think we can risk sending anyone else down.

Notable People Missing:
Simon - In my opinion I would rather have ZAR in the lineup and there's no way they scratch Galch... right?
Lafferty - Unfortunately the easiest guy to send down. I think he has the skill to stay with the team but without a trade I don't see a way he stays up.
Noesen - I think he is also easy to send down and the rest of the players here are more established as penguins.

Defense 1: Go back to Dumo and Letang, it has been the top pair for a while now.

Defense 2: Petterson is better than JJ, easy as that. I believe that Marino deserves a shot to play in the top 4 role so I have him over Schultz here.

defense 3: JJ and Schultz. JJ hasn't been that bad this year surprisingly and Schultz is definitely good enough to be in this lineup.

Notable Players Missing:
Riikola - I think he stays up as a healthy scratch but I dont think he makes the lineup over Letang, Schultz or Marino.
Ruhwedel - Again I think he stays up but can't make the lineup over the current players on the left.
Trotman - He's been a call up all year and I don't think that changes.

Power Play 1: Sid, Geno and Letang with a feisty Hornqvist in front of the net and another offensive Dman in Schultz. I don't think this needs a lot of explanation.

Power Play 2: McCann gets to play center with our leading goal scorer in Guentzel on his left and a player in Rust who absolutely deserves this shot. On Defense Marino and Petterson get the nod over the defensive dman Dumo and the less mobile JJ.

Penalty Kill 1: I think Dumo on PK 1 is a no brainer. I give Marino the nod over Letang and Schultz on the right side. I think McCann has played well enough to play on the PK, same goes for Rust.

Penalty Kill 2: If you aren't going to use Bjugstad on the PK I think its time to trade him. Tanev is a fantastic pentalty killer. Petterson I believe Is the best choice on the left side. I decided to go with JJ on the right over Letang and Schultz to give him some time on special teams and his physicality could be useful.

I’d honestly sit chucky and bjugs unless I’m trying to pump and dump them.

What I'd do is
McCann-Sid-Kahun/Simon
Guentzel-Geno-Rust
ZAR-Bjugs-Kahun/Simon
Tanev-Blueger-Lafferty/Galch

Same defense (as you) except I'd swap Marino and Schultz sometimes (just shelter Marino a bit, give him mostly easy deployments, particularly later in the year)

Jarry and Murray split starts, ride there hot goalie (Jarry rn)

He can't shoot, but he's a really good playmaker, really good two way forward/transitional forward, but he's bad at 1 aspect of the game so let's scratch him

pairing Schultz with JJ is a disaster in the making.
Schultz is not strong in his own end at all, and JJ while he has played really well this year, is not strong enough to carry Schultz puttzing around in his own end.
Schultz of all the defense men on the team needs to be hidden in the offensive zone. A. he can be effective there, and B. it really hides him being in the Dzone.
But you don't really want JJ there. He's better in his own end when he doesn't have to skate all over the ice. Due to the fact that he tends to wander all over the ice if he doesn't really have the structure he needs. Between him and Schultz on the ice, those are the last two guys you want playing defense if the puck comes back the other way 200 feet.

I think Sully has basically all but said Galchenyuk is going to the 4th line. Sully doesn't like him. He's already made up his mind on that. The guy has a shot. I will give him that. He just has no aim with it.

Yeah well people are stupid, go to https://evolving-hockey.com/?_inputs_&dir=%22RAPM%20Charts%22&dir_rapmchrt=%22Compare%20Skaters%3A%20EV%22 or https://www.chartinghockey.ca/daily-charts/daily-goalie-charts/ (just change to skater charts) you'll get a better impression of how a player plays, and usually doesn't take that long lol
