RHD and Backup

Created by: Sufferingleafsfan
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 7, 2019
Published: Dec. 7, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
LAK - Martinez is the right kind of player to be with Reilly (think Hainsey) and can run a shutdown PK pairing with Muzzin just like in the good ole days.

PIT - I think this trade is an overpayment for Jarry in a completely reasonable world but the Leafs are desperate and the Pens will take everything they can.

WPG - It's a cap dump. The Jets get an NHL 4/5 defender and the Leafs get the space to accomodate their other pickups.
Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Martinez, Alec ($2,000,000 retained)
  2. Walker, Sean
LAK
  1. Bracco, Jeremy
  2. Kivihalme, Teemu
  3. Marincin, Martin
  4. 2020 4th round pick (VGK)
  5. 2020 6th round pick (CAR)
  6. 2021 1st round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
2020 4th becomes the 2020 CBJ 3rd if the Leafs make the conference final.

The Kings get Bracco and Kivihalme to add as pieces to the rebuild. Marincin fills in minutes for the tanking Kings, while many in Toronto don't like Marincin he is a 7th NHL D-Man and him playing as 5/6 on a tanking team is perfectly fine.
The picks give the Kings more to add to the stores for the rebuild.
2.
PIT
  1. Hollowell, Mac
  2. Timashov, Dmytro
  3. 2020 2nd round pick (TOR)
  4. 2020 7th round pick (SJS)
Additional Details:
Hollowell is a good young D-prospect which seems to be what Pens are interested in. Timashov can provide budget-friendly support during all the injuries.
Picks complete the package.
3.
TOR
Conditional Pick - TOR gets WPG's 6th round pick in 2020 if the Ceci plays in every remaining regular season + all playoff games for Jets (if they make it). AND Ceci registers 15+ points for the Jets.
So basically this is a salary dump.
    WPG
    1. Ceci, Cody
    2. 2020 7th round pick (WPG)

Martinez is a LHD. But if you don’t mind that cause he can play on his off-side well then it’s a solid trade for Toronto.

As for Jarry, I don’t think the pens trade either unless they get an absolute Kings ransom. He is starting to challenge Murray for the starting job. The pens are in an envious position right now with having 3 nhl caliber goalies. 2 that are either starters or starter potential and a solid backup goalie on a great contract in DeSmith.

Jarry still isn't available, 6 periods in a row with a shutout (against two teams that were leading their divisions), he's been insane this year, he's had 1 average-below average game, every other game he's been spectacular, ARZ probably could have played 3 more periods at 5 on 4 and still wouldn't have scored last night, that's how good Jarry has been (along with our defensive system, but Jarry has been making spectacular save after spectacular save)

Kings. Just make it a 2nd and mid level prospect for Martinez. Leave out Walker snd the pile of crap.

    Pens decline.

    Jets accept.

That's way to much for Martinez and jarry. You could probably get rid of the other trades and add ceci to the LA trade. If LA could add jack Campbell you wouldn't need to make the other two.

Edit: they also dont add walker

You can’t be serious. Jarry is a Vezina caliber starting goalie yet you don’t think he is worth Timashov and a 2nd? The penguins wouldn’t trade Jarry for Marner even if they had the cap space!
