Hot f-ing take - Tom Wilson

Description
Tom Wilson is a almost a unicorn, he is a player every team wants but not rarely seen. Comparable too Marchand, a player that would be drafted quite high in a fantasy draft for a single season. If you had to create a 1 year team from a “fantasy draft” as a GM to win the cup, Marchand would be a top 10-15 draft likely (that’s me being conservative, I think we could see him going 5-8 depending on your wants for your team). Wilson I would say go top 30-50. That’s crazy I know. Like a 2nd round pick i could see him, if you select Marchand with your first and get Wilson with your 2nd you have an incredibly effective team.

Wilson has started getting some nice totals in the regular season in the last 2/3 years. And his playoffs have been great. He’s impactful physically and this year has cleaned up his game; playing smart but still his style and he looks to be on pace to possibly pass his career high.

For me i wouldn’t necessarily say I’d select him at like 35 but I could see it. If you’re building your team and want skill and speed while still being quite physical Wilson can go high. I get a lot of people “hate” Wilson and Marchand (I’m not a fan of either, but it’s just been a thought). But I think we’d all love them on our team.

Yeah. He's mellowed, all around. Still tough but doesn't need to play dirty for people to know it. Focuses more on passing the puck, and playing good defense. His points/game are about the same as last year, so here's hoping he doesn't get suspended, and gets to keep playing a fun, all-around game of hockey.

What's pretty scary, though, is that of his 164 career points, only 11 are on the power play. He's tied with Oshie for 18th in even strength points by a right wing this year.....just one behind the great Brett Connolly. smile Oh well. Can't win 'em all.

Yeah, you're right. It's a terrible career output for a top-fifteen pick with good offensive skill. Until basically the 2018 playoffs he played mostly fourth line, a lot with Jay Beagle, usually in a shutdown role. Killed a bunch of penalties.

But this year and last year, he's playing on a 50+ point pace, without cracking the top power play unit on a team that sometimes doesn't even use its second unit. If you think he'll steal a spot on the top unit from Oshie next year, as he keeps improving, then you could absolutely make him a top-50 fantasy pick and be rewarded. But Oshie's got some pretty good hands...

Some comments I've seen from Montreal fans, Leaf's fans and some Buffalo fans is this team is to soft or this team has no grit and its stuff no one says about Washington. There aren't many guys that can score with a top line and still play with the grit of a checking line player. You have the Tkachuk brothers, Tom Wilson and Tyler Bertuzzi. I know there are a couple more just can't think of them right now.
