One will be a first overall pick, one was 15th. I’ll let you deduce the better player.

Lafreniere is the best winger prospect since Kane in '07. Caufield isn't even the best winger in his draft class.

Lafreniere is the first QMJHL player since Sidney Crosby to score at least 40 goals in his rookie season. Nuff said
I think he could've challenged Jack Hughes for the 1st overall pick if he was born a month early.

Come on... Caufield is nowhere close to even top 10 prospect in hockey right now. He may be better than 15th place now, but I'd be much happier to have a lot of the guys before him. His shot might be lethal against kids, but when there's defensemen that are twice the size of him to play against, he won't have a chance.

Mike Hoffman 2.0. (Not a bad thing - Hoffman's a great player, but he only really thrives on the PP - I think Caufield will only truly succeed there too)

No one here would've heard of him here but Montreal has a bigger fan base than Arizona at capfriendly.com.

Easily Lafrenière

I don’t know if it’s “easily.” Lafreniere is a great all round player and has tremendous skill, but Caufield could probably score well over 50 goals a season.

Now you are saying as if there is no doubt that Lafreniere will be the top pick for 2020.

Byfield reminds me of Malkin, and Lafreniere’s skillset demonstrates a combination of Crosby and Stone. I think he could be a top 3 Forward in the league alongside McDavid and MacKinnon. However, Cole Caufield is like Brett Hull, a one-dimensional goal scorer with more speed and stick handling.

Actually, I think Lafreniere would’ve been the top pick ahead of Hughes for sure. Just a better, more dynamic all round player with tremendous skill.

I think he’s definitely quicker and more skilled than Hoffman. Plus has a better shot. His ability to move around in the offensive zone will help him score at even strength.

Agree, Caufield is a one dimensional player, although he has underrated speed and stick handling. I think Lafreniere may be able to put up 50+ goals and 70+ assists while be in contention for the Selke, but Caufield could be winning the rocket every season.
