Probably not. He is one of the core players for the rebuild.

but he's 25 already! Poehling is much younger, less offensive upside for sure. But he can be a 2way Center. Plus a 2nd round in a deep draft.

That for sure doesn’t. Don’t think DET is moving Mantha anyway. Athanasiou on the other hand most likely will be available.

Athanasiou is same age as Mantha. Det won't even make the playoffs for another 2 years.
Plus Mantha is up for RFA this year and that won't be easy considering Mantha has played a total of ZERO playoff games.

Mantha (.92) has the same amount of points as Danault (.77) and Gallagher (.77) and he has been on IR for a week. (ppg)

Out to lunch? Why because you want Mantha and can not see that Wings fans and others did not think this is not a good trade.

You are right, Mantha is a a RFA, meaning Wings hold all the cards, yes he can go to arbitration, but I doubt Yzerman allows that to happen. Wings have no cap issues and can pay big money if that is what Mantha asks for. Lastly tell me why Mantha would want to goto Montreal? They are in better shape player wise than Detroit, but MB has not proved he can build a winner, where as Yzerman has proved he can in Tampa Bay. You make it sound like you are doing us a favor by taking him off our hands.

Lastly you say we are getting a 2nd in a draft, yes but if we are going to rebuild you can not keep trading building blocks for picks. You have to draw a line in the sand, pick the guys you are going to build around and start the rebuild. Mantha, Larkinn Bertuzzi, Hronek and maybe Cholowski are those blocks. If you trade on or any of them you keep the rebuild stagnant and you will be in a loop of rebuilding for years.

Could Mantha leave but I have heard nothing that he wants to leave or that he does not want to play hear so 'Out to lunch' No more like you are out to lunch.

I don't think the value is there, but Montreal has no interest in doing a trade like this anyways

Hell No? Mantha isn't available and those pieces don't get him. MB wouldn't surrender the pieces that Yzerman would want for Mantha.

Your comment about trading building blocks for picks is so very true, this idea of a never ending rebuild or not making a move cause a team is in a rebuild makes no sense to me. At some point a team has to build around a core and begin to exit a rebuild otherwise they'll end up being stagnated in mediocrity forever.

Imo Yzerman needs to try and improve the Wings a fair bit over the summer and there needs to be a step towards a marked improvement next season. Would be nice if the Wings could snag the 1st overall pick this summer.
