Detroit probably wants more futures for Athanasiou, doubt they'd have much interest in McCabe.

I don't think he'd cost that much but if he did, that would be a hard pass for me.

It would be a solid overpayment from Buffalo, AA is not as good as it is advertised.

Why in the world do the Sabres want Galchenyuk...all this trade does is help Pitt capwise. My god he has 2 goals, we have those kind of players and not at 4.9 mil.. He has worked his way to Pitts 4th line, no thanks!

Why do people get so fired up over hypothetical trades by strangers on this website....

While I'm sure this trade doesn't get you AA but I do think Middlestadt is too much. Middlestadt is taking longer than expected to get comfortable in NHL but he will and he will be very good. Almost exactly like Mantha did.

Not a point of being fired up as it is does the trade make sense...we all want to see trades to make our team better but lets be realistic about a trade.

The three middle trade are realistic....why would the Sabres want Galchenyuk is my first question when they can get more out of Vesey on the ice. If Galchenyuk can't score playing with guys like 89 and 71 and has worked his way to the bottom line what's that tell you?

Listen, Vesey hasn't had luck in scoring but he has worked his a$$ of otherwise. Then you add 4.9 mil reasons not to trade for Galchenyuk bc if there is a bigger deal to be made you just wasted 2.625 mil extra between Vesey and Galchenyuk.

As for Athanasiou, Detroit is going to say he is a top 6 forward and will want more or should I say a better player in return. Lets face it McCabe isn't anything special and not worth a top 6 forward and Samuelsson I don't see Botterill trading unless he is not developing as they expect him to.

I'm going to back track here on Galchenyuk...only if Pitt takes Bogosian even up. Doesn't hurt the cap and both players go on to be UFA's next year.

Just read this:

**NHL UPDATED RUMORS**
These Penguins are shopping Galchenyuk rumors are true and #Sabres seem to be one of the teams interested. Looks like it’s Penguins being aggressive trying to get talks heated up

If Detroit can get what amounts to 2 #1's for AA more power to them but I doubt Botterill would give that
